DH is a fan, I'm not sure.

What's your opinion?

PS Clara is my current fave although I'm sure baby is a boy anyway.

No no no. Eloise? Louise? Louisa?

Clara is very pretty.

Hassled · 24/10/2009 21:02

I like Lois but I do think of a)Lois Lane from Superman and b)Lois from Malcolm in the Middle.

What about Clarice?

dizzydixies · 24/10/2009 21:03

I love it as did my DH however I already have the name of a Superhero girlfriend so I felt that it was too much having Lois too

katnkittens · 24/10/2009 21:05

I know two, a 13 yo and a 5 yo. Both lovely and it suits them.

It's not to my taste but certainly not a name I dislike either.

xx

We had Clara Lois on our shortlist but turned but to be DS. So guess that's a thumbs up on both of your choices - not very helpful is it, sorry

Heated · 24/10/2009 21:07

Lois is very pretty.

duelingFANGo · 24/10/2009 21:07

I like the Welsh Lois, as in pronounced Loy-s but mot when it's pronounced Lowis.

SixtyFootGhoul · 24/10/2009 21:07

I love Lois!

MaggieBruja · 24/10/2009 21:25

I love it!

MaggieBruja · 24/10/2009 21:26

Clara becoming very pop (very nice though). wdyt of Xena or Clio?

allaboutme · 24/10/2009 21:29

Like it, very nice

Salonly · 24/10/2009 21:35

Wow I'm stunned by its possitive reception!

Neither name (Clara or Lois)is in the top 100 so I'm not sure how popular each name is.

Clara is really lovely

Lois - plain, dull

Salonly · 24/10/2009 21:43

Please excuse the typos!

Also, I'm dead set on Beatrice as a middle name. Lois Beatrice is a bit sss heavy. Clara Beatrice still wins my heart...

slowreadingprogress · 24/10/2009 21:48

Salonly, that is a lovely name - Clara Beatrice. Very Classy. You have to use that!

Momdeguerre · 24/10/2009 22:02

Lois - like it, think it is sweet.

heavealot · 24/10/2009 22:03

Of course you should get him one, for all the reasons that everyone else has said.

And, if you need more reasons why for your dh, 'girls' toys such as dolls, kitchens, shops, teasets, give more opportunities for imaginative play and play which involves interaction with others and therefore help develop language skills and interpersonal skills better than 'boys' toys such as cars, trucks and footballs. For example, observe and compare dcs playing with cars and dcs playing with dolls - less talking to the cars and about the cars to adults/other children whereas a lot of playing with dolls invovles pretend interaction and conversations with the doll and about the doll/baby with adults present.

heavealot · 24/10/2009 22:03

oops! posted on wrong thread!!

BiteOfFun · 24/10/2009 22:04

Anyone named for the Malcolm-in-the-middle mum is a blardy winner in my book

heavealot · 24/10/2009 22:09

And now I can't find the thread that it should be on..looked everywhere...

sausagesupper · 24/10/2009 22:11

love it

Salonly · 24/10/2009 22:14

Lol heavealot, I was a very confused person for a minute there.

It was a possible for us, but we still kept thinking of Lois Lane. There's a wee girl in DSs nursery class called Lois and she's lovely so it makes me like it more. Our standing joke is that it will be our next (imaginary!) baby name as we have a LOgan and an ISla and that way it'll be a nice mix.

Not fond of Clara I have to say...

DougalDoneGood · 24/10/2009 23:23

Love it. I know a Lois (8 yrs old) and she's beautiful. I must admit when I first heard they had called her Lois I wasn't keen and thought of Lois Lane....but now I just love it.

ja9 · 24/10/2009 23:37
