Am ok for a boys name, but need a girls name in case we have another DD.

Some names I like but can't use for this baby for various reasons are:

  • Isabelle
  • Madeleine
  • Amelia
  • Elizabeth

Can anyone think of any similar names? I would quite like something that would give the nn Ellie but have been here before and couldn't find anything I liked.

What about...

Eleanor
Charlotte
Victoria
Josephine/Joseline
Emily/Emilia
Eloise

They're all pretty obvious so you've probably thought of them and rejected them, but I do think they are pretty. If you want something a bit less mainstream to give the nn Ellie, how about Mirabel?

GhoulsAreLoud · 22/10/2009 18:49

Thanks MrsHappy, they are nice.

I love Eloise, but DH doesn't. I like Elinor too, but not so sure about Eleanor.

Love Emily and Emilia but too close to DDs name.

Josephine, well Joseph is our boys name. You know me very well!

I wonder if I can work on DH re Eloise.

Thanks all,

I liek Rachel and Catherine, although prefer the Katherine spelling.

I love Matilda (obviously ) and don't think its twee. I think its quite similar to Madeleine - those were our top 2 names for dd

My DD is Rebecca Catherine.

My sis is Lucinda but hated it all her childhood and has been Lucy since teenage years. Think it depends though on which circles you mix with as to whether child will love it or hate it, IYSWIM?!?!?
