What do you think of Josephine as a girl's name? It's listed on Mumsnet's Baby Name Finder.

I love it but DH said a big NO.

TheMissingLink · 12/10/2009 19:57

I love it. It would be our 1st choice for a little girl. I don't love Josie though as a nn, prefer Phin.

AmpleBosom · 12/10/2009 19:57

I love it but already have a joseph so not really an option.

jkklpu · 12/10/2009 19:58

like it very much, as well as Jo and Josie

Salonly · 12/10/2009 20:01

I don't like it, I find it dated in the same way as Stephanie.

It's just a bit bland, no spice.

Fayrazzled · 12/10/2009 20:02

My best friend has a baby daughter, Josephine, but whom everyone calls Josie. I like it.

Supercherry · 12/10/2009 20:32

I think it's a beautiful name, elegant and classy and the NN Josie is really sweet.

Pyrocanthus · 12/10/2009 23:23

I love Jo far more than any of the names that it's short for. Quite like Josie.

Flowerface · 13/10/2009 09:21

It's my Mum's name. I really like it, but she calls herself Jo at work, etc, which everyone assumes is short for Joanne.

elmofan · 13/10/2009 09:30

dd's middle name is Josephine after dh's mum ,

AvengingGerbil · 13/10/2009 09:47

And Jo(sephine) in Little Women is a fab role model!

Snooch · 13/10/2009 09:52

I think it's beautiful - classic and very feminine.

MrsBadger · 13/10/2009 09:57

I adore it but dh says too frilly

ReneRusso · 13/10/2009 10:12

Lovely name, one of my favourites, middle name for my DD. Wish I hadn't used it already.

AngryFromManchester · 13/10/2009 10:14

i love it

I wanted it too but dh did not like it

TakeLovingChances · 14/10/2009 20:21

I'm preg with 1st child. Pretty much settled on the name Juliet if it's a girl.

My parents don't like the name Juliet, which is annoying enough in itself, but my mum keeps referring to my choice as Josephine

I don't mind the name Josephine, but it is the name of someone I worked with who I didn't like that much.

Think Josie is sweet though.

BikeRunSki · 14/10/2009 21:39

I love Josephine.

Tigresswoods · 15/10/2009 07:45

I love it and would call my child Josephine if I was having a girl (currently 20 weeks and hoping to find out gender soon).

This is one of my favourite songs and would still use the name even if the song is about a gender swap!?!?!

Josephine

TequilaMockinBird · 15/10/2009 07:47

My middle name is Josephine, and I have always hated it!

TheOldestCat · 15/10/2009 07:49

Love it! But then I would since DD is one (named after her grandmother). She's always been Josie, but I like the fact she's got the long version too.

And it it matters to you, it's relatively unusual so you don't come across loads of them.
