What do you think of Dulcie as a girl's name? It's listed on Mumsnet's Baby Name Finder.

It is my DN's name.

I am not keen though, I am afraid

liath · 12/10/2009 20:28

There's been a couple of Dulcie threads IIRC, personally I love it.

Knickers0nMahead · 12/10/2009 20:29

God no!

SarfEasticated · 12/10/2009 20:42

I think it's nice. It comes from 'dulcet' doesn't it, meaning sweet, so may be a lot to live up to!
Sounds like quite a posh name to me, a bit like Darcey.

Sounds like a fat girls name

maureehair · 12/10/2009 21:11

I didn't know Darcey was posh?
Those who don't like it, can I ask why?

Honesty is fine I won't be offended.

I've always liked it

WinkyWinkola · 12/10/2009 21:13

I love it. Doesn't it mean sweet and gentle? It's smashing,

theagedparent · 12/10/2009 21:13

Dulcie is a beautiful name. I know a 5 year old Dulcie and she is gorgeous.

SarfEasticated · 12/10/2009 21:14

I only know of Darcey Bussell who is prima ballerina so must be posh. That's where I got my theory from - and I'm sticking to it...

viennesewhirl · 12/10/2009 21:59

Lovely.

Mimi1977 · 22/10/2009 21:04

I think it's lovely!

Abubu · 23/10/2009 12:16

I used to know someone called Dulcie and I really didn't get on with her at all.

For that reason it has been tainted for me.

She was very posh by the way.

blushes · 23/10/2009 13:33

Is it pronounced "dulchy" or "dulsee"?

I prefer the former pronunciation, though I'm not mad about the name tbh. It's nice but reminds me of pudding.

cheeseandeyeballsarnie · 23/10/2009 13:36

i love it.

aliblue · 23/10/2009 13:54

I love love love it- i was convinced i was having a girl because I wanted to call her Dulcie so much. But I'm expecting a boy,so now i have to think of boy's names that go nicely with Dulcie so i can use it for when I do have a girl

Not sure about Dulcie, think of the nickname potential?

Really like Darcy, but again - think of the nickname potential

pollyperkins · 23/10/2009 13:58

It's very beautiful indeed IMO
