So far we have (please be kind ):

Romola
Rosalind
Sophie
Eden
Alice

I do love Sophie, but as we already have a dd with a name from the Top 10, I'd really like something a little more unusual this time. We haven't ruled it out though.

Alice for first name with Eden for middle name would be my choice.

sweetkitty · 09/10/2009 20:40

Alice

Don't like Ramola, Ramona or Romilly nicer IMHO

Eden I think will date

Rosalind and Sophie nice

saltyseadog · 09/10/2009 20:41

Forgot to say we have a one syllable short harsh sounding surname...makes names a bit harder.

I love Sophie and don't think it ever dates. Alice is also lovely and doesn't date. Less keen on Eden and the rest (but I have very traditional tastes so not well-placed to comment...). I guess Rosalind could be shortened to Rosie in childhood and then revert to longer name as an adult?

tummytickler · 09/10/2009 20:51

I like Rosalind the best! Lovely!
Also love Alice.
I do not like the others, agree Eden will date, and here seems to be used mostly for boys!

janeite · 09/10/2009 20:52

Don't like Romola at all, sorry.

Knickers0nMahead · 09/10/2009 20:52

Sophie.

FimboFortunaFeet · 09/10/2009 20:56

I like Rosalind and Alice.

Alice Rosalind would be nice.

Susannah is also a good name.

PurpleEgluggedblood · 09/10/2009 20:57

I like Eden. Not so keen on the rest

Servalan · 09/10/2009 21:01

Love Rosalind (my favourite Shakespearean character )

Alice - quite nice

Sophie - alright

Romola and Eden - not at all keen

pussycatmomma · 09/10/2009 21:10

Alice i love, we are thinking of it for a first name for our bump if it is a girl.
tbh I dont like Romola or Rosalind.
I love the name Eden and think it suits boys and girls. Girls a bit more i would say actually.
Sophie is very pretty but wouldnt be one of my choices. Nothing wrong with it though!
We are thinking Imogen or Matilda for middle names. But dh has this thing for 2 middle names, our ds has 2 so we need to have 2 for this bump which makes it so much harder! plus we dont know if tis a boy or girl so in theory I need to come up with 6 names in 8 weeks!!!!
Good luck! xxx

Lilyloooohhhh · 09/10/2009 21:13

I like Sophie sorry

rusmum · 09/10/2009 21:15

Myy DD is Rose Ellyn but i always call her roselyn so roseiln?

simplesusan · 09/10/2009 23:12

I like Sophie and Eden best. Alice would be my next choice.

katnkittens · 09/10/2009 23:27

I like Alice the best, timeless and classy. I love Sophie but very popular.
Rosalind is nice too, could have nn Rosa which is very pretty.

Not keen on the others sorry

lovemybabyboy · 09/10/2009 23:31

I like Alice and Sophie best from your list. Don't really like the other ones that much, sorry.

saltyseadog · 11/10/2009 11:21

Thanks everyone. I guess Romola and Eden are out! It's interesting that Eden is preceived as a 'modern' name as a good girlfriend of mine has it as a name, and she is in her 30s.

I do love Sophie and Alice, so maybe we'll try and forget that they are in the Top 20 and go with one of them.

duffpancake · 01/11/2009 20:57

Just to totally disagree with everyone on this thread, I love the name Romola. This is probably far more analysis than you're looking for, but my dcs have a one syllable last name and I think a three-syllable first name where the emphasis is on the first syllable (like Romola and Rosalind) go really well with a short one-syllable surname.

mathanxiety · 01/11/2009 21:24

They are all lovely, imo, so sorry -- I'm no help at all. I too love Romola, duffpancake. (Twas the name of Mrs. Nijinsky) And Eden.

Brightfield · 01/11/2009 21:41

I would go for Alice. Such a pretty name.

Frizbe · 01/11/2009 21:42

Alice, I know boys called Eden!

Singed · 01/11/2009 21:48

Rosalind is lovely.

Sophie I love but it is terribly popular.

Alice is a pretty name, but rather dull.

Romola and Eden - no.

Brightfield · 01/11/2009 21:50

Just to add - I know two boys called Eden too!

LynetteScavo · 01/11/2009 21:51

Alice.

I really don't like Eden or Romola...sorry.

avaj · 01/11/2009 22:00

Like Sophie, Eden and Alice.
What about Roma?
Romola reminds me of cremola foam!
