Like them all apart from Mason.

1stTimeMama · 06/10/2009 15:52

Hmmm, Mason's my least favourite too. Just trying it out!

Agree with Ghostwriter on Mason - a surname imo. Gabriel not Gabrial? Love Stanley.

On the girls - Marlo to me sounds masculine. Aurelia/lie on the other hand too candy-coated. Rather like Eliza. Also quite like Delilah but wonder whether she will get My My My all the time (probably just my age, sorry). Oriana just makes me think of orifice - again apologies and just my mind.

katnkittens · 06/10/2009 19:14

From your boys list I like Gabriel the best, not keen on any of the others.

Girls list I like Delilah and Ophelia.

I had a French exchange student named Aurelie once staying at my house, whilst it sounds nice with a French accent, 'orally' did become the butt of several jokes....

Boys :

Arthur - good
Ezra - cool !
Gabriel - love it (DH vetoed this for me)
Gideon - no sorry, reminds me of a) the Gideon bible b) a really nerdy bloke i once knew
Mason - no - it's a surname
Lorcan - I really like this
Raif - no. too "posh"
Stanley - cool for a little boy, but maybe a teen won't thank you for it ?
Thaddeus - no

Girls:

Aurelia - Hmm
Aurelie - Hmm
Delilah - no
Eliza - OK
Marlo - nicer for a boy !
Ophelia - no sorry, too pretentious
Oriana - pretty name

This as quite an eclectic mix of names !

Jamieandhismagictorch · 06/10/2009 22:32

Just thought, if you like Aurelie, what about Elodie ??

CristinaTheAstonishing · 06/10/2009 22:40

I like Arthur and Aurelia/e.

Are you sure you want Raif? (And all the others?)

serinBrightside · 06/10/2009 23:04

Love Gabriel and Oriana

randomimposter · 07/10/2009 07:40

Ezra - knew one at school - like it!
Gabrial - surely an E?
Gideon - again knew one at school/then univ... arse
Lorcan - too US soap
Mason - ditto
Raif - bit pretentious
Stanley - my dad's middle name - LOVE it... (we also named our first cat Stan)
Thaddeus - not keen

Girls
Aure lia - ok
Aurelie - sounds like orally

Eliza - grandmother's name... top of my girl's list (Eliza Genevieve for me)
Marlo - agree, sounds like a boy
Ophelia - like it
Oriana - boat

Thanks everyone, I see your points on some of them. I think the top pick of the girls is Eliza May at the moment.
With Gabriel, I wasn't sure whether it looked to feminine with an 'e'?? But my DP is leaning toward Arthur Gabriel?

I too like Ezra (once worked with one) & Eliza (friends dd named this). Also like Gabriel but have to agree with most commenst about the others. Marlo would be nice for a boy - ds2 middle name is Arlo!

Congratulations! Beautiful name.

CuppaTeaJanice · 16/10/2009 21:35

That's a good day to have a birthday!!!

Isn't there a Kylie Minogue & Nick Cave song with Eliza Mae in it? (or is it Eliza Day?) It's a good song though so don't let it put you off the beautiful name you've chosen for your little girl.

RatherBeOnThePiste · 17/10/2009 14:54

Love Eliza, was to be our second child but he was a boy!

1stTimeMama · 18/10/2009 12:28

Cuppa, it's Eliza Day, and I love the song!
