I don't know why but 'Paige' popped into my head.

My dd (4 months) is Iris Mae, thats because both her great-grandmothers were called Mae/May. Everything does seem to go with it as its short and sweet and nothing rhymes with it. Must admit she never gets called Iris, and we call her Dorris all the time, even my mother now calls her it, people often look at us odd in the street, but it suits her

BrokenBananaTantrum · 30/09/2009 21:06

really - you don't like it????

RubyBlueberry · 30/09/2009 22:17

Sorry if it's your DD's name BBT!
But no, there was a joke that went around my high school about Ophelia Fanny...

ha ha had not heard ophelia fanny joke. Not my DD's name BTW but I do know a 18 month old called Iris Ophelia and didn't think it was too bad.........

maniacbug · 01/10/2009 13:17

I don't belieeeeve it: Iris Ophelia is our current front-runner for no.3 due in a couple of weeks! We (or rather I) picked it months ago, before I even started looking at MN (so didn't 'discover' it on here) and thought it was an unusual combination - and because I love the Natalie Merchant song 'Ophelia' and have had it on my shortlist since DS 5 years ago but prob not brave enough to use as first name. I did actually Google it out of interest and there is an American fashion journalist who goes by the same name, so that's at least two already out there, then!

Of the other suggestions Iris Elizabeth (or Iris Eliza?) is my fave. And tummytickler Iris Matilda is a gorgeous combination!
