What's the first thing that springs to mind when you hear Asa? is it 'different but nice' or 'chav'. Straw poll please, thanks.

nevergoogledragonbutter · 18/09/2009 19:23

nevergoogledragonbutter · 18/09/2009 19:23

I like it btw.

Minicooper · 18/09/2009 19:38

I like it. Yes, biblical - think he was a doctor - off the top of my head! Our old next door neighbour (in his 30s - v rich and handsome!) was called Asa. Go for it. It was on my list, but dh wasn't keen.

warthog · 18/09/2009 19:39

Bellsa · 18/09/2009 19:44

I know an Asa. Lovely name(lovely man too, but that's another story...).

devonsmummy · 19/09/2009 15:43

I love it, knew one at school and wanted it for a boy should i have one.

when ds came along DH vetoed it

shabbapinkfrog · 19/09/2009 15:55

It makes me think of Asa Hartford who used to play for Man City (my team) in the 1970's - he seemed to be a gentle, genuine man so I think its a really unusual, lovely name.

My DS4 has an Asa in his class (the only one in a school of over 2,000 pupils) I know that he dosen't get teased about it and my DS thinks its a fab name.

Good choice xx

Deeeja · 19/09/2009 16:00

I like it, sounds alot like my current fave Aasiyah.

Deeeja · 19/09/2009 16:03

shabbapinkfrog · 20/09/2009 00:32

You have to love the 1970's picture!!

GrendelsMum · 20/09/2009 13:28

Asa Briggs.

Was disappointed by his book 'Victorian Things', so I would have to say no to baby Asa.

Apart from that, why not?

TotallyAndUtterlyPaninied · 20/09/2009 13:35

I like the name, there's a few friends of friends on facebook with this name. But I wouldn't know how to say it. I'd guess 'Ay- Sa'?

violethill · 20/09/2009 19:29

Unfortunately the only one I've ever come across in teaching was a naughty boy from a rather unpleasant family which put me off!
