Middle name to go with Matilda/ Freya/ Lara/ Amelia

I do like Matilda May but am aware it's increasing in popularity. Our surname begins with G and is 2 syllables (?spelling?) but would appreciate ideas for any of the above and opinions on which is nicest.

I love Matilda at the moment but am going through phases. I think Amelia may be too popular - I was one of 7 in my year and am still known as my old surname which I'd like too avoid for DD. I'm aware that the other names we like aren't exactly rare but at least they're lower down the lists!

Amelia hugely popular, Matilda also on the up, ditto Freya, so I think I like Lara best of your list, but I actually prefer Laura. All are pretty though.

IMO with those first names it needs to either be short (May, Joy, Jane, Grace, Rose) or much longer (Catherine, Margaret, Rebecca, Caroline)

We have a Matilda Rose if that helps at all

I do love Rose with Matilda but not Lara - too many R's - but worried about it being the equivalent to having Jane as your middle name from my time at school - probably a lovely name but became blah because of overfamiliarity.

I agree short names best apart from perhaps with Lara but don't think we've really nailed it.

My great grandmother was Ivy but I'm not sure how well it fits with any of them - and what do people think about initials spelling words - even if the words don't mean anything? My DS is a SORG!

Kate goes with all of your suggested names and is a bit less common than the ubiquitous Grace/Rose/May combos.

By the wazy, Mathilda (this spelling) May is a French actress...

I prefer longer middle names, and she'll stand out from the crowd not having Rose Grace or May as a middle name!

I also don't like Matilda May as it sounds too twee.

I have a Matilda and her middle names are Paula (after my Mum) and Elizabeth. We have a 2 syllable surname so all in all the way her whole name sounds is great. It really rolls off the tongue.

I think a longer second name with Matilda sounds better than a short one, but the second name shouldn't end in an 'a' unless you were thinking of adding another name after it.

I like Lara best too. Also like Matilda.

I know loads of Freya's and Amelia's.
