You're a real charmer, ain't you, Akamummy?

minervaitalica · 09/09/2009 13:53

Sorry - I really do not like Kit - although kids will not remember knight rider there are a few too many opportunities to make fun of it - kitkat, chemistry kit... Personally I would not risk that.

Roomfor2 · 09/09/2009 13:57

I presumed from the thread title that you were thinking for a girl - not keen for a boy.

FWIW - I didn't think akamummy's comment was rude. She's just saying that it validates her thinking that Kit is classed as unusual, compared with Chris which is not. I can see how if might be read as being a snide comment if you read it with a snide, nasty look on your face/tone in your voice! But I honestly didn't see it as that when I read it..

diddl · 09/09/2009 14:05

Horrible.

KERALA1 · 09/09/2009 14:09

Just read a book about Daphne Du Maurier and her son was called Kit. Like it - quite raffish and glamorous. Although personally would go for Christopher officially on birth certificate in case he grows up and is definitely not a Kit.

Roomfor2 - thanks for backing me up. I certainly didn't mean it rudely.

Aka - just came back and saw your little 'dig' at me! You are VERY rude! Totally uncalled for.

skihorse · 09/09/2009 17:40

I have the Knight Rider theme tune on a loop my head now.

LittleMissWorryHead · 09/09/2009 17:43

I agree, your comment was very rude...

LittleMissWorryHead · 09/09/2009 17:44

Also not too keen on Kit, there's just something about it that I don't like....

Qally · 09/09/2009 20:28

"It just pleases me when people who like boring names dislike my choices - it makes me realise Im on the right track!"

You could call the kid Trixibelle Maximilian Michael Jackson The Fourth with that attitude, and I couldn't pity him more.

Yes Annie - Akamummy couldnt take it could she? It must have hit a raw nerve somewhere for her to be so rude!

Qally · 09/09/2009 23:36

She asked for opinions, then slated someone for giving it. That ASKING is what makes comments acceptable - personally I think calling someone's choices chavvy is out of line, but they did ask.

And high horses - pots and kettles? Uh huh.

Qally · 09/09/2009 23:38

Oh - and I do really like Kit. However, when selecting a name someone else has to live with for life I think options are good, so I'd go with Christopher or something similarly conventional on the birth certificate, but use the less usual name at home. Then they can decide what they like themselves, when adult.

Afraid I don't like it -

Weren't the kids in Thundercats called Kit and Kat?

Anniemac is right. There seems to be a lot of mums on here who are a bit too touchy for my liking.
My comment was not rude - you just took it in the wrong context.
And trust me... i could be a lot ruder to some of you people.

Yawn! As I said before... grow up. The point of this forum is to discuss name choices and people are bound to disagree. I expected some of you not to like the name.... all I said was that it reaffirmed MY own opinion that Kit was a good name when people who liked "boring" names (again my opinion but I'm entitled to it as much as you are yours) didn't.

End of.
