I want something traditional, possibly biblical.

Matthew is the only name striking me at the moment. DS2 is due in 7 weeks.

I like it. I've never met a Matthew I didn't like.

weegiemum · 09/09/2009 08:54

Love love love it!

It was our "boy" choice for dd1, we then went off it and chose a different name for ds, but it was also our "boy" choice for dd2.

We never got to use it, in the end!

ByTheSea · 09/09/2009 08:55

I love the name and also have never met a Matthew I didn't like.

belgo · 09/09/2009 08:55

. it's the sort of name that won't cause a lot of reaction.

nickschick · 09/09/2009 08:59

Matthew is a fine name my youngest ds is Matthew and hes a real joy .

Its a name that 'grows' too people call him Matts and his friends call him Matty.

butterball and by the sea 'ive never met a Matthew I didnt like '- ive heard that so many times im beginning to think its true .

shabbapinkfrog · 09/09/2009 09:00

I love it - but there again I am biased - DS3 is called Matthew. We have always called him Matty.

nickschick · 09/09/2009 09:02

It has to be Matthew with 2 Ts though lol .

shabbapinkfrog · 09/09/2009 09:02

LOL yes you are right!!

Supercherry · 09/09/2009 09:04

Oooh, we all like it! It's not partiularly popular at the moment, though was in my generation, so there won't be a trillion other Matthew's either.

I love it, it's my brother's name and I never shorten it (although everyone else does).

Supercherry · 09/09/2009 09:05

Matthews either, pregnancy brain is seriously affecting my grammar and spelling so please forgive me if there are any pedants lurking.

I really like it (though unlike Butterball I have met a couple of Matthews I haven't liked along with some gorgeous lovely ones.)

MrsVik · 09/09/2009 09:31

Safe name - but very nice at the same time.

serenity · 09/09/2009 09:36

I've got a Matthew too (although we tend to call him Matt) We're quite fond of it (and him)

McDreamy · 09/09/2009 09:42

I love it, it was going to be DD2's name if she was a boy

ObsidianBlackbirdMcNight · 09/09/2009 09:50

It's my bro's name. I love it. He is Matt for short. He's very popular and handsome I love traditional names like that, my bro's are Matthew, William and Joseph.

bronze · 09/09/2009 09:51

I love it.
I have one who is named after my brother so doubly special for me

MamaG · 09/09/2009 09:54

I love it too

Pyrocanthus · 09/09/2009 10:28

I know quite a lot of young Matthews, but it's a good name.

akamummy · 09/09/2009 10:29

Boring but inoffensive

Tortington · 09/09/2009 10:29

yeah its fine

Buda · 09/09/2009 10:30

Best name in the world!

Mine is 8.

KnickersandVests · 09/09/2009 10:33

It is, as you say, very trad. Nice too but not hugely inspiring.

hellokitty22 · 09/09/2009 10:42

Boring, uninspiring, but nothing wrong with it.

Don't like Matt as nn.

Supercherry · 09/09/2009 10:45

Thank you for your replies, it's confirming what I already thought, so that's good.
