We're trying to come up with a girl's name for DC2 and can't seem to find one that we both really love. Can I ask for your thoughts on the two names that we agree on:

Susannah Mary
Louisa Joan

If a DS, he will be Louis Michael.

We also quite like Matilda (too popular?) and Tabitha (DD1 is Jemima so a bit too Beatrix Potter).

Middle names are all family names. We have a two syllable surname beginning with L.

Grateful for your thoughts, any other suggestions welcome.
Thanks.

Susannah Mary is lovely (I might be a bit biased though).

listenglisten · 04/09/2009 10:45

I prefer Louisa Joan

OrangeAnge · 04/09/2009 10:53

I quite like alliteration in names so Louisa L... could be really nice. I think Louisa or Matilda go well with Jemima too.

LouMacca · 04/09/2009 11:19

I think Jemima and Matilda would be lovely. Don't know any Matilda's (Tilly is lovely too)

Matilda Mary is lovely.

Adore Matilda, and don't know any Matildas either. It would go with either middle name, too. Louisa is very pretty and I prefer it to Susannah.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Matilda is back on the shortlist but we're still undecided between the three names. I like them all, it's so hard to choose.

honestly - i think when you have the baby you may have a better idea - sometimes the name you've chosen just doesn't suit iymwim

MaggieVirgo · 04/09/2009 13:36

Susie and Jemima lovely.

Matilda quite ugly. NOt sure why it's popular.

winnybella · 04/09/2009 13:41

Susannah Mary is lovely.
Matilda is great, almost called my DD that.
I like Louisa, not crazy about Joan.

NadiaWadia · 04/09/2009 16:28

Louisa is very nice.

But Susannah is BEAUTIFUL. Love this name and its not overused at the moment.

Mary's nice as a middle name for either. Not paricularly keen on Joan though - have you considered Jane?

Doozie · 04/09/2009 17:15

Absolutely Louisa Mary - it is beautiful and classic.

Matilda is definitely not ugly.

jellybeans · 04/09/2009 18:27

Susannah Mary OK NOT TOO KEEN ON SUSIE OR SUE THOUGH
Louisa Joan LIKE IT ALOT

Louis Michael LIKE IT

Matilda OK

Tabitha I LOVE THIS, MY FAVOURITE OF YOUR NAMES.

yama · 04/09/2009 18:30

Susannah Mary. Definitely.

(Is Joan a family name?)

differentID · 04/09/2009 18:31

Like both combos, but really like Louisa Mary.

honestlyandtruly · 05/09/2009 04:34

Yama - Joan was my late grandmother's name, Mary is my mum's middle name. I personally prefer Mary to Joan but would have liked to have used a name from my dad's side of the family.

Opinions seem to be split between Susannah, Louisa and Matilda - but at least no-one seems to dislike any of them .
