My 92 year old Dad is called Willie - subtle difference I think (shortened William).

"Hello, my name's Penis - that's spelled Peenice"

As Mr Spock so memorably said "A difference which makes no difference is no difference"

mears · 04/09/2009 09:42

Take your point seeker

Just shows the change in the times doesn't it? No-one sniggers when his name is said. He could have been called his full name of William but that has just never been the case. No-one bats an eyelid as that is just who he has always been.

My DS is called William, and we often shorten it to Willy . We also call him WillyFred (as his middle name is Frederick!)

Obviously once he gets older we will be more likely to call him Will.

When he runs off in the supermarket you can yell out "Has anyone seen my little Willy?", though your dp/dh should yell this out for maximum effect

pmsl Reminds me of old Ethel in Eastenders - always having problems with her Little Willie
