this is my name of the week....I really like it after meeting someone recently of this name who totally wiped out any residual thoughts of Margot Leadbetter....i think it could be a really classy name for both a little girl and also a grown up woman....your thoughts please

Love the name. (I work with a Margot who is a very elegant lady.)

Margaux is how you spell the wine though. And you wouldn't want her to be confused with young Chardonnay, I imagine.

And Margeaux would be in the Perrier commercial, non?

Pingpong · 02/09/2009 23:22

For Margot I think 'Good Life' and then think escargot or one letter away from maggot.
For Margeaux I think gateaux.
Not my cup of tea - sorry!

LucaBella1 · 03/09/2009 08:37

Could be a pronunciation problem for other children (the margoT) but apart from that I really like it =D

I love it!

Would it be daft to change a 3 month olds middle namme?!

LucaBella1 · 03/09/2009 08:38

that should have read:

(the T in margoT)

((sorry))

tummytickler · 03/09/2009 10:35

I love Margot - my little boy used to be friends with a little Margot at his old school and she is just lovely, must be 6 or 7 now.

TheHappyCamper · 03/09/2009 11:16

Ooo I like it a lot! I think I only like it spelt Margot though, agree Margeaux makes me think gateaux for some reason!

I think it's classy and elegant - nice for a girl or woman.

Could have Maggie as a nn which is also nice.

crumpette · 03/09/2009 11:30

I love the sound of the name Margot, though I do think it looks a little like Maggot when written down..... wouldn't put me off though, it's nice

twirlymum · 03/09/2009 11:38

Love it. Does remind me of The Good Life, but that's no bad thing!

MaryBS · 03/09/2009 11:40

Loathe it

SuzeMcG · 03/09/2009 11:43

I love it, wish I'd thought of it for my DD.

civilfawlty · 03/09/2009 11:44

gorgeous!

RnB · 03/09/2009 11:46

is lovely...

belgo · 03/09/2009 11:47

Very good name.

TwoPersephone · 03/09/2009 16:20

Great name, due for a come back along with Susan and Anna

MaggieVirgo · 03/09/2009 17:11

There was one in The Times today. I think it might me the new Esme tbh.

PestoSquallyMonster · 03/09/2009 17:13

I love it

MamaLazarou · 03/09/2009 18:37

Hmmm, I did instantly think of Margot from the Good Life, but then she was very glamorous and willowy, so it's not necessarily a terrible association.

Yes. Perhaps Margot is due a revival.

Cadmum · 03/09/2009 21:03

I like it. It is our dd1's middle name. (She is 10)

Breizhette · 03/09/2009 21:05

Very nice

mumtojohn · 04/09/2009 10:25

Margot is my girl's name (for when I have a girl) and I LOVE it. I think Margie is a good shortening. Or Maggie of course.

CheerfulYank · 04/09/2009 10:36

I REALLY like Margot. It's on my list for a someday DD. I'm Megan so I'm always looking for other forms of Margaret so as to carry on the name w/o being too precious.

OrangeAnge · 04/09/2009 10:40

Margot is quite sweet - I can't get away from The Good Life associations though. BUt that's not necessarily a bad thing!

My friend was going to call her little girl Margot and it would have been Maggie for short.

I like Margot but it reminds me of 'The Good Life'. Am I just showing my age?!

Maggie can be short for Margot.
