I like all your girls name choices, especially Annie and Zoe. The only one of your boys names I like is Finlay.

Thunderduck · 01/09/2009 11:45

I love Eve / Annie or Ava for a girl and Finlay for the boy (but thats because DS2 was called Finn)

crokky · 01/09/2009 11:46

I really like Zoe and Zara. I think they are names which are modern, but they were also used when people of our age were kids - really nice names that don't date. I think Annie is pretty as well.

I am not keen on the boy names, sorry! Milo reminds me of one of the Tweenies and he has a really annoying voice! If I had to pick one, I'd go for Finlay.

Nancy66 · 01/09/2009 12:05

India - too popular, become a bit chavvy
Ava - nice but way too popular
Zoe - dull
Zara - high street fashion outliet
Eve - lovely
Annie - my favourite
Lila - ok

Boys

Finlay - prefer Finn
Nico - don't like
Milo - good name
Casper - really like, cool name
Rufus ditto

DimpleChin · 01/09/2009 12:16

Hi there - for what it's worth, my humble op's below

India - an unusual name which is now pretty common, so I'd avoid like the plague!
Ava - lovely, classic, would be great all the way through her life
Zoe - OK
Zara - as comment for Ava
Eve - lovely again, tho I know quite a few little girls called this so is obviously popular
Annie - my dsd is called Anna and I think it's really pretty, as is Annie
Lila - Kate Moss' daughter's name, I think, so I'd avoid

Finlay - this is really popular (common? lol) at the moment. Not my cup of tea.
Nico - nope, sounds like a pimp!
Milo - as above
Casper - great name for a 'friendly ghost', lol
Rufus - don't like

Sorry - not meaning to sound negative re the boys' names! I think it's just personal taste, but I always like more traditional names - my ds is called William Joseph, and if I had another I'd probably opt for Harry, Tommy, Charlie, or George.

Good luck with choosing! x

pasturesnew · 01/09/2009 12:19

I like all the girl's names.
Don't really like Finlay (too popular now)
I would expect someone called Nico to be Greek, not sure if that matters, just for info.
I like Milo, Casper and Rufus.

madeupsurname · 01/09/2009 12:33

India - I do like it, but perhaps getting a bit common
Ava - too common
Zoe - LOVE it, really classic
Zara - love it
Eve - a bit dull
Annie - prefer Anna, with Annie as nn
Lila - no

Finlay - no
Nico - yes
Milo - no
Casper - no
Rufus - love it

nappyaddict · 01/09/2009 12:40

Hi there,
Please could you let me know what you think of these names:

Girls

I like India and Lila. The others are too popular for me.

Boys

I like all except Finlay (again only because of popularity reasons)

MaggieLeo · 01/09/2009 12:44

Girls

India - no sorry, the word that shalt not be spoken.
Ava - nice but v.pop and I prever just Eva. or even just Eve.
Zoe - gorgeous, LOVE Zoe
Zara - nice, I like it.
Eve - LOVE EVE
Annie - gorgeous, I like it. I also like Nina and Ellen
Lila - no, very of the moment. Lots of Leilas, Lilys, Lilas etc. Nice, but sbin done

Boys

Finlay - ok, quit like but 'sbin done!' again.
Nico short for nicholas, I like it.
Milo - I like it
Casper - like it.
Rufus - I like it.

I like Zoe, Eve and Annie the best from your girls' list. And Nico (Nicholas) or Rufus or Milo.

SouthernMeerkat · 01/09/2009 13:22

I like Zoe and Eve out of your girls names - the others are too popular or have negative associations for me.

Boys - not sure I like any of them other than Rufus (because I have one of my own!), so I think that is gorgeous. I had Milo and Caspar on my original list, but DH vetoed them. Finlay - FAR too many Finlay/Finns/Fins etc, but perhaps it's less popular where you are! Nico is a no for me - but Nicholas wouldn't be for some reason...

MamaLazarou · 01/09/2009 18:47

India - A bit too middle-class for my liking
Ava - Old lady, not in a good way
Zoe - OK
Zara - that awful toothy horsey royal
Eve - lovely
Annie - lovely
Lila - lovely

Finlay - too trendy, will date
Nico - OK
Milo - a chocolate milk drink
Casper - the friendly ghost
Rufus - BRILLIANT

Bellsa · 01/09/2009 18:49

Like all the girls ones. Don't like the boys ones, except Finlay.

RubyBlueberry · 01/09/2009 18:52

I really like Lila.
Nico is ok if you are greek

MadameCastafiore · 01/09/2009 18:54

I like all of them - just don't use India or Casper if you are very common as it isn't a name that sounds right when shouted out in ASDA - it is a Waitrose name!

SweetnessAndShite · 01/09/2009 19:25

I have a Milo who would be delighted to know he shares his name with a chocolate milk drink! The Tweenies thing drives me barmy as no one bats an eyelid at the names Bella or Jake (OK I'll let you have Fizz!)

From your girls list I like India & Lila

Boys - Milo (obviously!)

Tortington · 01/09/2009 19:29

Girls

India -no
Ava - ok
Zoe - no
Zara - no
Eve - ok
Annie - no
Lila - no

Boys

Finlay - no
Nico- no
Milo - no
Casper - no
Rufus - no

all a bit 'try hard'

forkhandles · 01/09/2009 19:30

I like all of your girls names apart from India and out of the boys prefer Rufus

throckenholt · 01/09/2009 19:31

girls names :
Zoe
Zara
Annie

boys - Finlay at a push

the rest don't do much for me personally.

willow5 · 01/09/2009 23:13

Thanks so much for all the feedback. I really liked Ava when I had my little girl 4 years ago (but loved Maya more). Would like something simple, classy but not too popular.
Looks like a girl bump, but interested to get feedback on the boys choices just in case!

jellybeans · 02/09/2009 13:18

India OK
Ava OK bit trendy, prefer Eva
Zoe LIKE
Zara LIKE
Eve LIKE, bit boring, prefer Evie/Eva
Annie DISLIKE
Lila OK

Finlay OK BUT FAR TOO POPULAR
Nico Dislike
Milo Dislike
Casper Dislike
Rufus Dislike

GooseyLoosey · 02/09/2009 13:20

I like Milo a lot, but for me it is a family name going back at least a hundred years and I was genuinely shocked when someone told me it could be regarded as fashionable.

diddl · 02/09/2009 14:27

Not keen on Annie or Finlay.

mathanxiety · 02/09/2009 18:37

Like everything except India and Finlay. Nico I have reservations about because I prefer Nicholas. Nico is a nn for Nicolaus very popular in hispanic circles in the US

TheChilliMooseisyourfriend · 02/09/2009 18:56

India - no. You are having a child, not a country.
Ava - I like this
Zoe - it's ok, not overly used nowadays. Don't put the two dots over the e though.
Zara - I don't like it because I went to school with rather a nasty one.
Eve - ok although I wouldn't use it.
Annie - ok, but not sure
Lila - ok

Finlay - is cool. I like it.
Nico - is nice.
Milo - no. It's a Tweenie to me.
Casper - nope. It's a ghost.
Rufus - NO NO NO. It's a dog's name. I know a lad called Rufus and he constantly gets woofed at at school.
