Our 3 year old is called Imogen. Have a list of names for the one on the way (only a few weeks to go!!)... which do you prefer...

Maddie
Isobel
Lara
Susannah

Which is your favourite?

Oh, am expecting number 3 any minute and my husband and I were just today saying how much we liked Imogen. And we have a Lara already.

I really like Lara (obviously) and also Maddie. Like Isobel too, but there are loads and loads and loads of them round here.

AmeliaR · 30/08/2009 20:31

No way!?!!! That's such a coincidence. Maybe it's fate then and I should choose Lara

I think Isobel is a little close to Imogen, maybe? Maddie I'm not keen on, I'd go for Lara or Susannah, my favorite being Susannah

Good luck with the birth!!

Sidge · 30/08/2009 21:06

Susannah is lovely.

Lara is nice but I prefer Clara.

boodleboot · 30/08/2009 21:08

Lara is gorgeous....as is Susannah...

Andthentherewerethree · 30/08/2009 21:09

lara for sure!

imogen is on my list oif names for number 4 due in a few weeks.

my sisters dd is lara and its a lvoely name.

MaggieLeo · 30/08/2009 21:12

I'd go for Susannah/Susie
or Leonora/Lara

I think Lara is too modest next to Imogen. dykwim? Leonora and Imogen better matched.

Isobel would be too Miss I XXXXXs. Very popular too. Maddie just not keen.

MaggieLeo · 30/08/2009 21:13

Sidge, yes, Clara. Clara and Imogen go better too.

tummytickler · 30/08/2009 21:13

Oh Susannah - it is soooo lovely and underused and Susie is really cute on a lo!

AmeliaR · 30/08/2009 21:14

Looks like Lara is becoming a favourite!!

Hadn't thought of Susie. Now you've got me thinking. Will run that by the DH

When I looked I thought it needed a 3 syllable name like (only cos it was the first one I thought of) Allegra- but not nec. Allegra. Anyway Susannah fits perfectly is what I'm trying to say

mathanxiety · 30/08/2009 21:19

I always wanted a Lara or Clara (much prefer to Claire), but I love Susannah too. There are too many Isobels and Isabellas. Plenty of Maddies where I live too.

TiggyR · 30/08/2009 21:20

I think Lara is very pretty, timeless, and not over-used or trendy.

jellybeans · 30/08/2009 21:49

Maddie OK
Isobel Far far too popular
Lara fab name
Susannah OK but not keen on Sue/Susie

I like Lara best, like Cara also.

dogofpoints · 30/08/2009 22:01

Isobel is lovely but doesn't go with Imogen

Maddie is lovely, my favourite
Lara is lovely too
Don;t like Susannah

frakkinpannikinAGRIPPA · 31/08/2009 00:21

Imogen and Lara sound beautiful together. As do Imogen and Leonora.

Don't like Susannah personally.

Imogen and Isobel - too popular and too many Is.

Imogen and Maddie I don't like but Imogen and Madeleine are fine. I suppose it depends if you shorten your Imogen to Immie and then have Immie and Maddie...

upamountain · 31/08/2009 00:30

I've always liked Lara because of Doctor Zhivago connection - she was actually Larissa if you would like a longer version of the name which is also a lovely name.

AmeliaR · 31/08/2009 12:28

Loads of great thoughts above, thank you everyone. I think Lara is up there at the number 1 spot for us now. Will let you know what we decide when she's finally here

I have friends with a Lara and Imogen, too
was going to say Larissa as well though prefer Lara

TwoPersephone · 01/09/2009 09:06

Imogen and Susan

Firawla · 03/09/2009 13:59

Lara

NadiaWadia · 03/09/2009 15:24

All beautiful names.

My favourites are Susannah and Isobel. Athough as you already have an Imogen it would perhaps be best to avoid having 2 kids with the same initial? Susannah had the advantage of having lots of possible short forms, Susan, Susy, Suky (really cute for a little one) or Sue.

Lara is very nice though.

As is Maddie although I would officially name her Madeleine so she can have the choice when she's a High Court Judge - but let her be known informally as Maddie/Maddy.
There is a sad connecton though of course (McCann).
