Here is the list as it stands at the moment. We've not really discussed what we like the best etc but just trying to compile names we like! Opinions on these and any other suggestions welcome. We have a short surname if that matters (not that it really does to me!)

Charlotte
Eleanor
Erin
Jenna
Lara
Leah
Sophia
Zara

The only one I like is Eleanor..I wouldn't mind this for our DD but DP won't have it. He likes Amelia ATM. We have a three year old Lara in our family...I have never liked the name, feels really harsh for some reason and reminds me of Lara Croft.

I like
Amelia
Jemima
Elsie
Jessica
Tilly
Harriet
Poppy
Florence
Ella
Annabella/Arabella
Bel la

Thanks again! It's good to have other suggestions (and I promise I'm not saying no to all of them just to be awkward!) so here goes...

Amelia - like but childminded a girl called this and so feel I can't use it!
Jemima - friend from work has a dd called this so couldn't use it I guess.
Elsie - Can't see DH liking it, although I quite do.
Jessica - dd's middle name
Tilly - not for me
Harriet - was on name list but took it off for some reason, although not sure why so think I will add it again.
Poppy - already in the family
Florence - not for me
Ella - not with our surname
Annabella/Arabella - not with our surname
Bella - not with our surname!

Miranda - not for me
Harriet - as above list!
Georgina - Hadn't thought of it but quite like it so will add it to the list and see what dh thinks!
Alice - Not for me
Phoebe - Our fish is called that!
May - Not really me and too short
Hope - not for me
Jemima - as above list
Antonia - not for me.

OOooh I love Charlotte - but I would say that as that's the name I have chosen for our bump lol! She'll be Lottie until she decides it's too uncool and gets all her mates to call her "Charlie!"

How about

Evie
Ava
Eva
Olivia
Lucy

Do you prefer more modern names or more traditional??

It's so hard to choose one though....

MrsVik · 28/08/2009 20:41

Charlotte - my niece's name. Love it! Quite popular though, if that's a problem.
Eleanor - Rigby. Not keen.
Erin - Was on my list until DH said it reminded him of Aaron, so he crossed it out. Really think it's cute though.
Jenna - Hmm... not so keen
Lara - Nice name - don't know about the UK, but here there are millions of Laras, and I'm getting a little tired of it.
Leah - Same as Lara!
Sophia - Beautiful, elegant.
Zara - Snappy, unusual, but still very nice.

bebesequin · 28/08/2009 21:18

Love Eleanor - ageless and elegant Charlotte is pretty not keen on any of the rest
Lois
Miriam
Isla
Rosa

Cluttergump · 28/08/2009 21:29

Zara no....ZORA yes, gorgeous.

i love Elinor - spelt that way not Eleanor

PestoSurfMonster · 28/08/2009 21:31

I like all apart from Jenna & Leah

PestoSurfMonster · 28/08/2009 21:35

What about

Leela
Clara
Emilia
Sasha

southernbelle77 · 29/08/2009 07:33

I don't really want a name that is in the 'top 20' of the moment (not sure if dh does!!)! I don't want a particularly modern (or made up) name, but equally nothing too traditional either as I find some of them quite boring.

Just added Naomi to the list after reading it on another thread.

Before starting this, I was edging towards Leah but not really sure. Eleanor was the name that dd said she wanted to call the baby which is why it is on the list, but she has now gone off that a bit, although it's growing on me!

Taken Elsie and Harriot off the list now as DH didn't like them at all!

Just added Tamsin and Keira to the list as well. What about them?

Any particular reason for saying no to both thesecondcoming? Just don't like them?

Not keen on Clara or Flora, sorry!

Also now taken Jenna and Lara off the list after some comments DH made that means the names will never be the same again

Really wish a name would just jump out at me so to speak as feel we should 'love' a name to give to our baby!

Thanks! That's why I need reasons as hadn't even though of Tammy/Tampax but that will make me think again!

Did think about spelling Keira as Kyra just so it wasn't the same as the actress with 'too much jaw,not enough tits ' !

My mum was called Margaret and always used Maggie but she hated it so I wouldn't want use it - plus it's not a name I am particularly keen on (other than it reminds me of my wonderful mum) and there is no way my dh would ever go for it! His mum is Pamela and that's a no go either! Grandma for was Kathleen (Kit) which I quite like but he doesn't, and my nan was Daisy but don't want a flower name! Not sure of earlier names but imagine it's things like Ethel which isn't me! So family names are out!

Shame about Lara, it's a lovely name for a girl. What about soundalikes? Clara? Lyra? Zara? Sara? Lana? if it's the starting with an l and ending with an a then Lola? Lotte?
Eleanor is nice, but shortened to Ellie= not so nice. Eleanor is elegant, but Ellie makes me think 'Ellie the Elephant', sorry to Ellies.

southernbelle77 · 31/08/2009 10:57

Can't have Lara now as DH made a comment about being the 'womb raider' and now I will never look at the name the same again!

I like Eliza and Elina and think either would go well with our surname.

DH really likes the name Melody but I really not taken with that.

We both also like Aimee, but a good friend has an Amy and I feel odd about using the name, also like other, less popular names better.

We both quite like Jemma (after Jenna had to be taken off when DH commented on it!).
