Do you know an Eliza? What does she get shortened to (if anything?)

And if you don't know an Eliza, but you met one, what might you be tempted to call her (other than Eliza?!)

It's top of my girls list (actually, is the only one on the list at the moment) but want to consider all the things she might end up being called before I go with it. I'm not keen on Liza or Liz - would she be constantly getting either do you think?

I know an adult Eliza, we call her 'Li' (as in 'lie'). It's a lovely name and an affectionate-sounding nickname.

I know one. Sorry to say this, but she hates the name herself. So she calls herself Liz.

I know one. She's always Lizzie.

I had a schoolfriend called Eliza (I thnk it was actually short for Elizabeth in the first place) - hers got shortened to Liza mostly, and sometimes Liz. I love Eliza and I like Liza too.

So glad that you posted this thread, MrsK - Eliza is currently my top girl name and I so hope I get to use it!

I was worried that it would get shortened to Liza but I agree with other posters here that you (and she) probably get to decide what you are prepared to live with.

Thanks for all the responses - It's looking cery much like she will be an Eliza (assuming the scan was correct and she's not going to be a he!)

Couldn't Betty be a pet name for an Eliza?

Only if Eliza is short for Elizabeth.
