Opinions on names for baby girl

Ok so my top choice is:

Maya Amelia

Last name is Murray. I love the name Maya but my concerns are, is it too much of a mouthful with the surname? Does Maya Murray sound ok as it is alliterative (DH's name is alliterative too but sounds fine)? Her late grandmother was Amelia so I want to use the name but was worried it was too popular for a first name.

Other possiblities for first names are:

Amelie
Isabelle (but worried it might be v. popular)
Charlotte
Scarlett

What do you think?

It doesn't matter. If you like the name, use it!

Maya Murray's not great, imo.

Thanks for opinion - any more are welcome. I'd just rather not give her an overly popular name as mine was when I was growing up and I got sick of being in a class with 2 or 3 others with the same name.

If you have Maya are you going to pronounce it May-ah or My-ah? My-ah seems to be more popular if you are worried about that.

I'd still go for My-ah as the name in general doesn't seem to be very popular at the moment. Am more concerned about the first name and surname together and if they sound ok or not.

I don't think Maya Murray is good. It's not that pretty and it is a bit TOO alliterative!

Amelie Murray just trips off the tongue and is SO pretty, has to be that, surely?

Amelia or Amelie sound really nice to me. Maya is really popular where I am so maybe that is putting me off. Charlotte is the other name on your list that I like -- Charlie is becoming popular for a nn for a girl, though, but Lottie is nice.

Amelia is lovely but I think you have to lose the Maya in the middle.

I really dislike the name Scarlett, very harsh imo, but Amelia Scarlett Murray, as a whole name works a lot better. It's more balanced iykwim. I prefer Isabel, but Amelia Isabel has too many vowels that run into eachother.

Or........ Camellia Skye Murray?? (Scottish nod!) are you scottish?) I know that Camellia wasn't your husband's grandmother's exact name thoguh, but its still a nod to her.

oh sorry, I see your prefered first choice is Maya Murray. Sorry but that is even worse.

What about Freya Murray?

I love scarlett, amelia and isabelle are v popular. Scarlett Amelia is gorgeous

How about Annabella or Carlotta, Charlene, Charlize.

Sorry I also don't think it flows well. I also agree with the point made about millie...What aobut Emily?

I think Maya Murray is fine. Maya is by far the nicest name of the ones you listed.

Thanks for all opinions - just what I needed as was becoming obsessed with the name Maya! I am back to the drawing board with names though still really like Amelie as a first name (never to be shortened to Milly)!

I know a couple of Amelies age (5 and 7), no one calls either of them 'Milly'. I guess it's whatever the parents start calling the child that sticks.
