My 8 year old is called Iris, I love it, although we had a few raised eyebrows 8 years ago!
We call er Ishy affectionately but not really as a nn.
dd's friends mum is a HV and she says she has only met one other who was born recently, although i think it is becoming more popular now, we still havent met another.

DailyMailCanLickMyBalls · 13/08/2009 15:01

Love it. Would use it for our forthcoming baby, but a friend used it for her little girl, so it's sadly out.

SarfEasticated · 13/08/2009 15:57

I really like it, such a beautiful flower too

Baconsarnie · 13/08/2009 16:06

It's lovely (will be DD's name if she is ever conceived!). But it's definitely becoming more popular and might be a bit too popular in a couple of year's time.

princessmel · 13/08/2009 16:08

Love it, this baby would be called Iris(well it is very high up on the list) but it's a boy!

geekgirl · 13/08/2009 16:10

KERALA1 · 13/08/2009 17:55

Don't understand why its not more popular - funny that Lily and Daisy are so common yet Iris isnt and its such a lovely name.

screamingabdab · 13/08/2009 17:55

Love it. It means Rainbow.

Becoming increasingly popular, but not to an off-putting degree

mrsbean78 · 13/08/2009 19:24

leakyR · 19/08/2009 22:21

I have an Iris Elizabeth aged 16 weeks. Don't know any others. Have had only positive responses to the name.

dizzydixies · 19/08/2009 22:58

lovely

gingerbunny · 19/08/2009 23:21

i love this name, was on my ds2 shortlist., but how can issy be short for Iris, they are the same length. no point in calling baby Iris if your going to call her Issy, may as well calll her that from the start.

differentDM · 19/08/2009 23:24

Love it.

MaggieBeauLeo · 19/08/2009 23:26
