Not for me but a friend who has this at the top of her list for a girl. I love it, just wondered what mumsnetters views were.

i think it's reeeeeeeally over used now.

shame as it's nice.

Remotew · 08/08/2009 16:18

Oh really! I don't know any others locally but I am out of touch. Middle name will be Anne as it's a family name.

I love it, DD was going to be Ava but then I changed my mind 2 weeks before she arrived, she's 2.5.
Then Myleen Klass called hers Ava and I was a bit relieved I hadn't gone for it

piquantglass · 08/08/2009 16:40

I love it.

danthe4th · 08/08/2009 16:42

Love it and its getting very popular but so what, my first born was an Emily, not many about and then there seemed to be loads.

WideWebWitch · 08/08/2009 16:53

I have an Ava. I love it. I think it's classic, elegant, glamorous and simple. I had mine way before Mylene Smug.

Remotew · 08/08/2009 17:25

A thumbs up for the name then, great. Thanks for replies.

Love it. Shame about the popularity since Myleene's baby though.

Mammina · 08/08/2009 20:24

nice name but SO popular

gero · 08/08/2009 21:17

It is a lovely name but soooo many Avas everywhere I go. Such a shame. She will be just one of many.

dizzydixies · 08/08/2009 21:21

lovely and certainly not overused up where we are

ScummyMummy · 08/08/2009 21:22

Like it a lot.

roxy12 · 11/08/2009 11:36

gorgeous name, thats my lil cousins name. really lovely.

I have only heard ava once when my cousin was named it and this is the 2nd time i have heard it. i dont think its that popular

choosyfloosy · 11/08/2009 11:37

Really lovely but not sure about Ava Anne to be honest - the two 'A's are a bit of a struggle for me. Any other family names you could consider?

ilovesprouts · 11/08/2009 11:38

love it

Thunderduck · 11/08/2009 11:51

It's nice but overused.

pointydog · 11/08/2009 11:53

It's quite nice. A little hard, somehow

TigerFeet · 11/08/2009 12:05

[weary of trying to name dd2 emoticon]

jellybeans · 11/08/2009 13:05

Nice but over used.

cheesesarnie · 11/08/2009 13:08

dd's best friend is ava.i love iti think its very elegant.

didnt know it was tres common.but dont care still love it

MummyDragon · 11/08/2009 13:18

I like it, and if your friend likes it, who cares if it's "overused?" I also think Ava Anne is beautiful

Kids don't feel any less special or loved just because one (or more) of their friends has the same first name. In fact, they seem to enjoy having the same name as someone else. I certainly did - was chuffed to bits when I met another MummyDragon at the local tennis club when I was a teenager (there were no other MummyDragons at my school even though it's not an uncommon name).

My daughter has a widely-used name and absolutely loves meeting other girls with "her" name.

Fruitysunshine · 11/08/2009 13:19

It is a beautiful name.

Remotew · 11/08/2009 13:44

Thanks, it would have to be Anne in the middle.

I was one of many at school with my first name and come to think of it, didn't bother me at all.
