names for a girl

Although we are fairly sure we're having a boy, and have a name sorted out for him, there's a niggle at the back of my mind that it'll be a girl, and we'll be totally unprepared! Unfortunately, the girl's name we had agreed on (Alice), I have gone off in a big way. My DP still likes it though...

So, which from this list do you reckon to?

Alexandra
Alice
Cecilie
Eliska
Emilie
Erika
Evelina
Ingrid
Klara
Klaudie
Lydie
Vio la

The middle name will either be Ruby (my grandmother's name) or Eliska (my DP's mother's name); surname begins with a K. all names are ones that work in Czech and English, in case you are wondering where the hell I got the spellings from! (here, btw)

I prefer Klaudie spelt Claudie (plus if your surname is K then KK isnt ideal?)

nope, although KRK does mean 'throat' in czech. but middle names aren't used at all over there, so that's not a big deal!

TeamEdward, are you me? Ingrid and Astrid are top of my list! Like Klara, Klaudie (is this pronounced as clodie or cloudy?) and Lydie too.

Klaudie would be pronounced just like Claudia over here, probably more like 'Cloud-ee-ye' in Czech rep.

I love the name Ingrid too, but DP is not so keen, and says it just makes him think of Scandinavian woman with long blonde plaits. However, if we left it up to him to choose a name, the baby would just be 'baby' until it reached an age where it could choose its own name!

Klaudie or Erika are my favourites but actually all the names on your list are nice.

thanks everyone - I just need to work on himself now, although I can see us sticking with Alice if baby does end up being a girl, just for ease. This name choosing thing is hard work!
