cookielove · 03/08/2009 20:14

i love it, have loved it from about age 13 when saw a film called loosing Isaiah, so beautiful

rubyslippers · 03/08/2009 20:14

it may be a grower ...

am not sure about it

honeydew · 03/08/2009 22:00

nice - could be a bit heavy -how much do you want you son to stand out? Be careful with these fashionable but unusual names.

glucose · 03/08/2009 22:05

er not fashionable, try biblical

dd has an Isaiah at nursery, family are practising christians, he is a sweet little thing.

hester · 03/08/2009 22:07

I like it.

hambo · 03/08/2009 22:10

Glucose - I think Honeydew means that at the moment it is fashionable to use biblical names.

It was not/will not be so fashionable in other decades.

Fashionable does not have to mean modern.

MamaLazarou · 04/08/2009 08:29

Isiah is a BRILLIANT name!

boodleboot · 04/08/2009 15:04

i do not like isiah....it sounds very dry to me...prefer the other -iah names like Josiah and Jeremiah...

JeMeSouviens · 04/08/2009 15:07

Love it.

GossipMonger · 04/08/2009 15:20

To me it is too Biblical IYKWIM!

Joshua fine
Joseph fine
Luke fine

Moses not fine
Isaiah not fine
Noah not fine

But just my opinion. If you like it use it.
What sort of thing would it get shortened too do you think?

screamingabdab · 04/08/2009 16:06

I also think it is a bit too Old Testament

Although I like Elijah, strangely, and Isaac.

Or failing that, Nigel

GrimmaTheNome · 04/08/2009 16:26

Don't like OT prophets. At least its better than Melchizidec though.

Or Elisha... which seems to have been adopted as a girls name and pronounced El-ee-sha - I was quite suprised when I first saw it and pronounced it El-eye-sha like I'd always heard in church, Elijah and Elisha...

StripeyKnickersSpottySocks · 04/08/2009 16:38

Its a bit Amish to me, don't know if it is actually an Amish name but it sounds it. I prefer Issac.

jellybeans · 04/08/2009 19:04

I like it. Good name.

Firawla · 04/08/2009 19:39

I like it

MaElsie · 05/08/2009 12:55

Go for it, I think it's a good, solid boys name. You'd know where you were with an Isaiah - he'd be bound to be tall, broad and have a deep, resonant voice.

Plus, the more people who choose Biblical prophets' names, the less strange will our choice of Biblical name appear when our child is born!

Jemima123 · 05/08/2009 15:55

I like it. Also chose Isaac for a middle name for a friend's baby - she was smitten!

RubyLove1 · 05/08/2009 16:13

I absolutely LOVE the name Isaiah, but where I live (which isnt where Im from to would have made a difference to me) all the guys my DP grew up with have biblical names like Isaiah and Isaac and Elijah and Josiah etc etc (which I love) and DP said no way...
