Anyone have a son named Jesse?

Run into any teasing?

I'm american and only just found out that Jesse is not very nicely used up north.
We are in London though so don't know if that will really affect us here.

I love the name, but wouldn't want my son to be teased forever more for it.

I have a Jesse... He is two and I love it, love it love it. I've had no regrets.

It totally suits him, it always has. He is totally going to be able to pull off the sporty surfer image... (pushy Mum alert)

My MIL gasped when we told her - which was a good sign as her best suggestion up until then had been Wayne.

The worst reaction I have seen has been on here tbh! Usually it's the "oh he'll be picked on" argument... Not necessarily I argue.. I went to school with a Merlin and he wasn't picked on for it.

Anyhoo, I could go on all night defending my choice, but I don't have to. It's a gorgeous name, but don't use it, because I'll die of shame if another one of my childrens names becomes "popular". I already have an older Ellie (obviously I had her when I was merely a child myself )and now it's...in the charts

That said, I couldn't possibly reveal what finally sold it to DH.

Thanks LouLou.
No need to sell it to my DH, he loves it too.
We were going to use it with our last but decided on something else.
But I seriously doubt it will become a popular name, the times I've seen YOU CAN'T NAME HIM THAT! on here....

Do you know what? I had not considered this name, and I love it.
There is a good rule for the teasing - don't ever let them go up north problem solved!

i LOVE the name...was on our shortlist.

i knew a jesse back in the day..he was very gorgeous and v. cool.

i know a grown up man called sasha, which i also think is very cool, as is jody for a boy.

I am amazed that anyone thinks it odd at all!But I do agree it will never be mainstream. My ds is the only one of his age that I know.In fact of all his friends it is one of the least out there names but I do live in Brighton

its not horrendous up here, normally just meant as affectionate teasing for being a big wimp - I would use it

I love Jesse - this was on my list and nixed by DH. I love girly boys names generally - Stacy, Sacha etc, DS name is ambiguous as well.
All the famous Jesses are hardly effeminate anyway - him from Desp Housewives, Jesse Birdsall, Jesse James

Oh god, just make sure he knows - Don't go to Scotland, no matter what the tourist board tells you about the Fringe Festival, or the tattoo - Edinburgh Castle is so not worth it!!
I suppose to someone Scottish it would be the same as calling him 'Poofy' or similar elsewhere.

Went out with one from Brighton.

Everyone looked when I told them his name.

I wouldn't do it if I were you.
