Ophelia Beatrix
Mungo Jeffrey

What do you think? The middle names are family names.

girl's name OK, though prefer Jessica/Viola for Shakespearean options

Mungo - dreadful, and I'm from Glasgow

MaElsie · 05/08/2009 13:03

Don't do it. Not Mungo please. Mungo is always the creepy guy in murder mysteries. Sorry.

Ophelia Beatrix is pretty though.

PuppyLoves · 05/08/2009 13:10

oh dear not Mungo. He won't thank you for it.

Beatrix is lovely though

pasturesnew · 05/08/2009 13:16

Ophelia Beatrice would be more consistently Shakespearian and that way you'd have a tragic and a comic character balancing each other out? I don't think Ophelia is that depressing a character actually, she seems to have had a nice time before Hamlet went bonkers.

I really like Jeffrey, another of these names that could be due a comeback soon perhaps? Mungo just makes me think of beans, I get the Harry Potter connection but that wouldn't be my first choice.

Ophelia is gorgeous. Mungo is the pits.

Not a fan of Beatrix or Jeffrey at all. But did lol at inadvertent Mungo Jerry homage

mopsyflopsy · 05/08/2009 13:55

I like them both!

I think more important than the first and middle name combo is the first and surname combination.

myredcardigan · 05/08/2009 14:50

Mungo ok if your from Glasgow. If not, I wouldn't. Dh just said, 'It's a shite name but at least up there you'd be patriotic!' (He is also from Glasgow)
Ophelia is pretty but obv has the tragic connotations though as mentioned, so does Juliet yet it's never a problem.
I prefer Beatrice to Beatrix. Do not like Jeffrey, but family names are often important.

Tidey · 05/08/2009 14:53

Ophelia - good, Beatrix - Prefer Beatrice

Mungo -Absolutely bloody awful, Jeffrey - Ditto.

I hope I haven't offended you, but Mungo really is one of the most atrocious names going. Good luck and best wishes anyway.

pedalmonster · 06/08/2009 18:50

Oh No. Surely you jest? Ophelia? can you imagine all the jokes at highschool? I feel ya, Ophelia. And Mungo - honestly, wasn't he the patron saint of homeless people or something?
Unless you are exceedingly posh and snooty, I'm talking several generations of poshness, these names will not work.
