I cannot get my DH to agree on ANY boy's names.

He has turned down EVERYTHING from James and John, to Gabriel....He has turned down Ben, Dan, Joe, Danny...EVERYTHING

Middle name will be Montgomerie
Surname is similar to Matthews..

As they are very very VERY popular where we live.

I'd prefer something that can't really be wrongly spelled (I know in this world of kreativ spellings everything can be spelled 5 different ways but I'd prefer something that had an "obvious classic" spelling which would be what we would use)

Girls name is completely sorted and we both love it....Boy's name is a complete and utter mystery and ANYTHING that we will ever come up with will be more tolerated than loved I feel....

we are in much the same boat with girls names - luckily it looks like we're having a boy. What we have done though is a) agree that I have the deciding vote, as I'm the one most inconvenienced byt the pregnancy and b) go through a list of names which are used in my fiance's country (they have a list of suitable names over there, and it's recommended that you avoid any name not on the list). We now have a shortlist, but I'm still not settled!

Do you have any family names which you like? (going back to great and great-great grandparent and aunt/uncle times)

does the girl's name you've chosen have a male equivalent, or a meaning which has a male equivalent name?

DH and I could not agree on any boys names. That was part of the reason we found out the sex, so we could either stop stressing about it or ditch our list of girls names and get concentrating!

I figured we'd end up with something neither of us loved too cause we'd been through every other name in the book - but in the end, we chose Alexander which we both now love

There aren't so many Alex's round here...

Not helpful in terms of giving you ideas I know but just to reassure you that you might not have to just tolerate the name you end up with...

Probably thought of this, but since you are so set on a girl's name, is there not a boy's equivalenti-ish sort of name?!

Well, the Girl's name is Tess, but I don;t know if there is a boy's version of that..

He has Aspergers so tends to panic when met with serious choices and only comes up with footballers names or names of his favourite sci fi characters....

only name I've had okayed recently was Captain Jack Harkness Montgomerie Matthews....he doesn;t actually like Jack though...

my parents had me in holland and my father caused havoc by picking a name not in 'the book'.... a very irish name at that

he got so infuriated trying to register my first name i ended up with no middle name as he couldn't handle the thought of attempting to register that too! so i have an invisible middle name hat noone uses except him

nope - my sister's is though! mine is czech luckily I was able to argue for a middle name, and have chosen a czech middle name too - first name will be one which is the same in both languages!

How about you start suggesting some totally outrageous names (you can start with Testicle) and then he'll either a) love them, and then that's a problem you'll have to deal with or b) realise that the original names you were suggested are wonderful and will go along with your favourite.
