Yvonne

MrsMattie · 08/07/2009 21:47

Evalina (know a girl with this name)

frAKKINPannikin · 08/07/2009 21:47

Why don't you give her a first name beginning with E and the middle beginning with V?

Then her initials are EV, pronounced Evie!

Ewe · 08/07/2009 21:47

Genevieve

Ewe · 08/07/2009 21:48

Oh and I think Evangeline is very pretty too,

BananaFruitBat · 08/07/2009 21:48

Could be an version of Eve.

I know a Kate who was always known as Katie when she was younger. Her mum and sister still call her Katie.

corriefan · 08/07/2009 21:48

Evangeline

Wilts · 08/07/2009 21:48

Evangeline

hocuspontas · 08/07/2009 21:49

If you are only going to call her Evie then name her Evie.

currymaid · 08/07/2009 21:50

Call who Evie, Mutt?

My DD is Evelyn, and we thought we'd be shortening to Evie, but she's nearly four now and nobody calls her Evie (she doesn't really like it)
So, if you want to use Evie, call her Evie

weegiemum · 08/07/2009 21:57

Eveline, Evaline (know one of each, both pronounced Eeve - lin)

Heated · 08/07/2009 22:01

Genevieve, Evangeline, Eve.

Sounding similar but a bit more distinctive imo is Hebe.

Lol! No, there's no baby, just pontificating!

Personally I don't like nicknames as full names, so if you have any suggestions as to what Evie could be short for I'd beinterested to hear them, thanks.

I prefer Evie on it's own and see it as a short/shortened name not a nickname (which I would see as Shaz, Dazza etc) It is far more common as a short name. BUT I do like Evelyn and Evangeline especially, very good names which can become Evie and Eve.

qumquat · 26/07/2009 19:23

I would use Evie as a nickname for Eve, rather than a shortening of a longer name.

The longer names I would think of are Evangeline and Genevieve.

pointydog · 26/07/2009 19:39

nicvkname for eve

pontynan · 09/08/2009 12:30

The Welsh name Guinevere (only spelled differently) is shortened to Evie.

surprisenumber3 · 10/08/2009 21:50

My DD (15 weeks) is Evie so obviously I love it

DS1 already calls her Eve, whereas DS2 (5), calls her Eviebelle Tinkerbelle
