What do you think of the name Kester (for a boy, obviously)?

posiedullardparker · 09/07/2009 09:36

Don't like it, sorry.

ShauntheSheep · 09/07/2009 09:36

I really like. found it in a Georgette heyer book and thought it was lovely.

Paperclipcollector · 09/07/2009 09:39

I know a Kester (in his 40s!). I think it's a great name - not common either. His gets shortened to Kes, which is nice too. A real boys name.

Bumperslucious · 09/07/2009 09:40

Nope don't like it, and don't think it is obviously a boys name.

blithedance · 09/07/2009 09:45

I like Kester, it reminds me of Mary Webb's "Precious Bane". Go on, please do!

Frasersmum123 · 09/07/2009 10:09

Sorry but I think its horrid

imaynotbeperfectbutimokmummy · 09/07/2009 10:46

no, it may not be a made up name but it sounds like one. Sorry

nancy75 · 09/07/2009 10:49

i went to school with a boy called kester, he was teased constantly about his name. i dont like it at all sorry.

ByThePowerOfGreyskull · 09/07/2009 10:52

went to school with aboy called Kester, he was one of the cool handsome kids who happened also to be a great bloke.
So for me it brigns warm lovely thoughts.

lazylion · 09/07/2009 10:55

I think it's lovely, there's a character in a Mary Webb story called Kester I think. It is an old English proper name, I have seen it a few times in the C19th census too.

BikeRunSki · 10/07/2009 13:35

I like it. I knew a nice one once, and it is the only time I have come across it, so positive associations. But I like it anyway.

Tillyscoutsmum · 10/07/2009 13:37

Its not one I've come across before but I actually quite like it. I did have a dog called Kes though so that wouldn't work for me. Really like Kit

MamaLazarou · 10/07/2009 14:08

I don't like it. It sounds too much like 'Kestrel' or 'Hester'.

magbags · 14/07/2009 20:57

Isn't it a bird of prey? That's what came to mind for me. No, actually I'm thinking of a Kestrel. Sorry still don't like it.

Chrysanthemums · 14/07/2009 20:59

Is it a Quaker name? I quite like it.

campion · 15/07/2009 10:10

I worked with someone whose son was called Kester. Never met him but always felt sorry for him ( after I'd established he was a boy!)

seeker · 15/07/2009 10:18

I was going to leap in with the Chalet School reference - but you all beat me to it.

Remember that in the book, Kester's twin brother was called Kevin - not a good association!

Christopher - shortened to Kit?

chandellina · 15/07/2009 21:21

i prefer Chester - Chet.

pranma · 15/07/2009 22:07

I love it,it is an old version of Christopher-what's not to like?
