rate or slate - boys names list

Surname has three syllables - with lots of S and L sounds so restricts my choices a bit (nothing ending with S or X)

So far we have...

Elijah
George
Isaac
Jack
Levi
Henry
Hugo

Which do you rate - and which do you hate...?

Elijah - LOVE
George - OK
Isaac - No
Jack - No
Levi - No
Henry - No
Hugo - No

krugerparkrules · 25/06/2009 13:29

i realise i have now seen too many baby name threads, with lets just say looking for the more unusual type of name - as i thought the names you wanted us to look at were

rate and

slate!!!!

krugerparkrules · 25/06/2009 13:30

ggril - i see i was not alone!

kittywise · 25/06/2009 13:35

Yep I thought that too, I was about to post that they were possibly the worst proposed names i had come across on here.
I would say all names fine apart from Levi, jack is very very boring and the same name as trillions of others. All the others are fine though.

sifuentes · 25/06/2009 14:29

Eli
Levi
Isaac
Noah

all gorgeous.

What about Solomon (Sol)
And Abraham (Abe)

?

I like 3 syllables in first and second name - sounds nice and singsong

thelollipoplady · 25/06/2009 14:42

v funny u lot - wondered who'd notice that!

Love Hugo. Also like George and Henry. Also thought rate and slate were hilarious names for a child.... That's the main reason I had a look at the thread - I wanted dto see what other crazy ones were on the list - oops! I did twig as I clicked on to it though...

staylucky · 25/06/2009 18:39

I'm calling my little man George so I love that one!

I get the asda thing but we at least joke that all his clothes will have his name in them.

I like Isaac and it's meaning of laughter. Don't dislike any of the others.

Boys names are well tough though, good luck with making your final choice x x

staylucky · 25/06/2009 18:40

Ooooh Solomon is BEAUTIFUL too!

Sheeta · 25/06/2009 21:18

How about Ezekiel/Gabriel (sorry, not 100% sure of spelling)

If I had the guts DS would be Thor, but Ezekiel, (zeke), but was Jacob which is now really common popular

Gattina83 · 25/06/2009 21:59

Elijah, George, Isaac - cool
Jack - way too popular, but cool
Levi - chavvy (sorry)
Henry, Hugo - posh but nice
I like Saul too, and Amos

Heated · 25/06/2009 22:05

Rate: George, Issac, Hugo and Henry

Slate: Levi

Like on other people's children but not mine: Jack & Elijah

Nighbynight · 25/06/2009 22:10

Rate:
Henry
Hugo
Elijah
Jack (though there are lots of them)

neutral about George

Can't stand Isaac and Levi.

Nighbynight · 25/06/2009 22:11

If you're going to call him Levi, why not just call him Burberry and have done with it?

janeite · 25/06/2009 22:15

Elijah - quite like this
George - wasn't he the hippo on Rainbow? It sounds a bit - erm - lumbering.
Isaac - I like this
Jack - no opinion
Levi - I have taught a fair few in the inner-city, if that says anything
Henry - sounds blonde and posh and nice but clumsy to me
Hugo - I 'think' I rather like this but really not sure

fizzpops · 25/06/2009 22:32

Elijah - love
George -not so keen, but not terrible
Isaac - love
Jack - love, and yes I know it's popular
Levi - love but not brave enough
Henry - OK but prefer v popular Harry (even though it is a nn blah blah blah)
Hugo - not keen, sounds too rotund...

Heifer · 25/06/2009 23:09

My scores on the doors are as follows: (for what its worth)

Elijah - 10/10
George - 2/10
Isaac - 5/10
Jack - 2/10
Levi - 8/10
Henry - 10/10
Hugo - 0/10

thelollipoplady · 26/06/2009 08:18

Yeah i know - levi's too chavvy. Love it's proper OT meaning though - joining or bonding together. Can't believe so many of you like Elijah - thought that would be the wild card name. Henry's a late addition - I know too many Harrys, Wills and Maxes - but no Henrys.
