Ruby is back in fashion, I've only ever known 1 Emerald. Do you know an unusual name that is a precious stone?

Including the above, I also know a Crystal and a possibly a Sapphire although I rather expect it was spelt "Sophia".

I had an Auntie Beryl (green semi-precious stone). I really can't advise it though ...

Pearl?

Oh yes, I've taught a few Jades and Ambers too.
Tidey, you have a very unusual list! Although I must admit that I did use to think that I might call my dd Amethyst though dh thought it sounded too new age.
We have a late grandma Ruby.

Jasper

Oolitic Limestone???

I've taught lots of Jades and Ambers. For some reason the Jades were usually of the more challenging variety!

Not Garnet or Carbuncle though .

I read a book once where 3 sisters were called Diamond, Sapphire and Topaz. Topaz was nickname Topsy and had a bit of a chip on her shoulder that she was only semiprecious.

Isn't there a book with twins called Ruby and Garnet? Ruby's lovely, but Garnet just reminds me of Alf.

I have a nearly 4 year old dd called Pearl.
I love the name Beryl and Opal but not sure i could use them alongside Pearl.

I know several Rubys, and a Sapphire.

Jacinth - an orangey red transparent variety of zircon used as a gemstone.
alternatively Jacinta/Jacintha

I just love the name Emerald! I've never known any personally - but think it's a really stylish name.
