Hi
I am having a C section baby girl on wed and still have not decided on a name. Our ideas are:

Alice
Elizabeth
Madeliene
Mia
Sophie

But we are open to other ideas as we are not set on any of them.

Is Alice a bit boring and old fashioned?

Thought if went with Elizabeth could shorten it to 'libby'.

Like Madeliene but worry about the Madeliene McCann link.

Not sure on Mia as never know wether to say it as mea or mya - if that makes sense.

Like Sophie but worried it is very popular - noticed there are 2 Sophie's in my son tumble tots class. Also partner and his ex had a dog called Sophie! - Not sure if I should let this put me off.

Really appreciate ideas and thoughts.

We did like Molly and Milly but realised don't go with surname which is a McEwan.

Thanks
jo

Alice Rose sounds gorgeous and is very "now" but at the same time, utterly classic.

Alice McEwan has a nice rhythm to it.

Alice - nice, class name; not my choice personally but can't see anything wrong with it IYSWIM

Elizabeth - again a pretty and traditional name

Madeliene - nice, nn Maddy/Maddie; very popular if that bothers you

Mia - not keen on this personally

Sophie - pretty name but again popular

Molly - I have a Mollie so am biased; I really like the name

Milly - nice name but prefer it used as a NN with a fuller version; again very popular round here.

i like Alice very popular round here so came off our list but sounds lovely with your last name. x

I like Alice.

I also think Lucy is a lovely if underused name these days.

gagamama · 22/06/2009 16:55

Alice is gorgeous. I don't know why it isn't used more often. Alice Rose I absolutely love.

Best of luck for Wednesday!

Lucy - was actually my first choice of name but my best friend has just called her new baby it. I was NOT happy. But I have moved on now!

alice and elizabeth for me

TwoHot · 07/07/2009 17:52

Elizabeth is lovely, what about Elizabeth Alice?

shivermetimbers · 07/07/2009 17:57

I think Alicia would sound better with your surname than Alice.

loobylu3 · 07/07/2009 20:44

Alice is a beautiful name- not boring at all. Elizabeth is a good classic. Sophie would be my third choice. Not mad on the other two.

saggyhairyarse · 07/07/2009 21:23

Elizabeth!
