doh! Hadn't really thought of Gus as being short for Magnus. I know 2 of those, aged 3 and 5.

DidEinsteinsMum · 18/06/2009 21:59

Several. but half my family is from Norway. Personally i love the name. Had never heard it before my cousin called his son it.

Pingpong · 18/06/2009 22:01

I usually think of Gus as short for Angus of which I know quite a few but Magnus I know none personally. Like it though

LetThemEatCake · 18/06/2009 22:04

yes, I would have thought angus = gus more than Magnus. I reckon Magnus would get abbreviated to Mags, if anything?

FatGirlThin · 18/06/2009 22:08

None (and I'm a teacher so have own dc's school and place of work to compare). Are you naming after the creator of sportacus?!

mrsbabookaloo · 18/06/2009 22:08

If you're concerned about popularity, have you been to the Bounty site? I would never pick a child's name without checking there first.

It will tell you where it comes on the list of children's names for the previous year and whether it is rising or falling in popularity.
