I would be grateful for your thoughts and any other suggestions

It is rather cool isn't it ? What's on your girl's list then ? I'm convinced its a girl...

Girls

Florence - lovely and goes well (Tilly and Flo?)
Daisy - lovely
Stella - lovely but not sure it goes
Beatrice - love it but not allowed it in this house (Tilly, scarlett and Bea is lovely)
Martha - Gorgeous name but too similar to Matilda?
Phoebe - not keen
Heidi- not keen at all.

Boys

Fergus - not keen
Fraser - not keen
Alexander - like it
Seth - not keen
Finlay- like it - fave of your list
Rufus - not sure.

nevergoogledragonbutter · 12/06/2009 22:39

Hmmm, let me think.

DS1 would have been Hazel or Willow
(nature names, sorry)
We knew DS2 was a boy so never got very far with girls names. I think we had Nuala lined up.
I'm a fan of Jennifer, Josephine, Lilian, Eris.

I have a few out there new age type names up my sleeve, but you won't like them, so i'm not telling you.

Tillyscoutsmum · 12/06/2009 22:43

I like Josephine (but would probably end up Josie which would no doubt annoy you ). I also like Francesca, Constance and Fearne but dh doesn't. Jennifer is a great name (its mine ).

Roll on 20 week scan when we can at least hopefully concentrate on one list !

Thanks again all

Bonus points for me then!
Fearne/Fern is fab.
Shortened nicknames with -ie's are fine in the DB rulebook

Cynthia32 · 12/06/2009 22:54

Girls

Florence - don't like, also fairly popular.
Daisy - love, but would suit a small child
Stella - makes me think of sugar rush...
Beatrice - nope don't like.
Martha - Like. I think it goes with Matilda.
Phoebe - Like. Goes with Matilda & Scarlett.
Heidi - Like. Don't care about kerry katona.

Boys

Fergus - love love love.
Fraser - mmmm its okay.
Alexander - okay but very popular.
Seth - love.
Finlay - okay but quite popular.
Rufus - not very keen.

ShowOfHands · 12/06/2009 23:00

Girls

Florence- Lovely. Florence speaks several European languages and when she whips off her specs is quite stunning. Her French artist husband calls her Florrie
Daisy- No, Daisy is too worried about getting her taffeta dirty and she doesn't like to get greasy helping her Daddy clean his new bike
Stella- Excellent name. Stella takes no prisoners but has a romantic side she only shares with a few people
Beatrice- I love this, tis dd's middle name but I don't think it suits all children. Beatrice has to be elegant and worldly (which my dd is not btw)
Martha- so cute, but not with dd1's name and it's too of the moment
Phoebe- she's sweet but she's not your dd
Heidi- No, she shotputs at the weekend and doesn't like reading for pleasure

Boys

Fergus- yes, yes, yes, but he has to be cool and effortless
Fraser- nooo, the freckly specky one out of Byker Grove
Alexander- It's alright but it's just not special enough
Seth- This one, this, pick this one, it's simple, punchy, brilliant. Your ds would be a Seth
Finlay- It's nice but it isn't Seth
Rufus- Brilliant, really good name and second choice if Seth doesn't suit

I love baby names, more so as I won't ever need them. You have excellent taste.

Wilkiepedia · 12/06/2009 23:08

Beatrice, Martha, Phoebe all lovely

Fraser, Seth and Finlay all lovely

crumpette · 13/06/2009 09:30

Florence
Heidi

Fraser
Alexander

dizzydixies · 13/06/2009 10:32

I love Beatrice and Rufus from your list

ilovepeppapig · 13/06/2009 11:14

i like daisy, martha and alexander

peppapig3 · 13/06/2009 11:30

Florence- love this and goes well with Matilda
Daisy- v pretty but perhaps a bit 'cute' compared to the other names
Stella- okay
Beatrice- lovely, as with Florence.
Martha- nice- do you want another M name?
Phoebe- v nice
Heidi- not too keen on this one

Fergus- okay
Fraser- not keen
Alexander- okay
Seth- okay
Finlay- okay
Rufus- love this.

I would choose Florence or Beatrice from the girls list and Rufus from the boys list.

How about Clara, Cordelia, Iris, Ada, Estelle, Louisa, Lucy, Evangeline, Alice, Imogen, Theodore, George, Gregory, , Hugo?

Nancy66 · 13/06/2009 17:21

I really like all your choices with the exception of Heidi - Kerry Katona's kid is called Heidi if you get my drift.

MrsMattie · 13/06/2009 19:05

I like all of your girl's names. Heidi, Martha and Daisy not quite so much as the others, though.

The only one of your boy's names I like is Alexander.

TheyCallMeLofty · 13/06/2009 22:27

Girls

Florence - Love but dislike 'Flo' - reminds me of an old gossipy washer woman

Daisy - Love for a child but doesn't suit anyone over 12

Stella - Hate, very hard name IMO and the wife beater larger is a real put off.

Beatrice - Like and also like 'Bea'

Martha - No

Phoebe - Really like

Heidi - No.

Boys

Fergus - I hate this name, makes me think of Fergie the lurgy for some strange reason

Fraser - Nice but need Scottish roots IMO

Alexander - Alex is way too popular and Im not keen on unisex names (or nn in this case)

Seth - Love it and would be on our list but we live in a region where 'TH' becomes 'F' and I couldn't live with Sef.

Finlay - I know too many

Rufus - Awful

serin · 13/06/2009 22:46

Don't like Phoebe, one of DD's friends gets called Pubey at secondary school

All the rest are

magbags · 14/06/2009 09:29

My favourites by far are Florence, Stella and Fraser. Lovely choices imho.

sleepyhead3 · 14/06/2009 12:51

I like Florence, Daisy and Beatrice for a girl and Alexander, Seth and Rufus for a boy.

sifuentes · 15/06/2009 12:47

LOVE florence - so many nick names - Florrie flossie flossie floops floppy jo - endless amusment - goes well with tilly
Stella nice
B nice

All boys are nice apart from Fraser.
You do have excellent taste

seeker · 15/06/2009 12:55

Please be careful of Seth - I couldn't say th until I was nearly 10 - and practically nobody in my ds's Kent primary school can. Seth would be Seff to 90% of his classmates. Ds's friend Ethan has the same problem!
