I love it btw but I know it is an odd one - not planning another now but just curious about boys names.

I think he would have to be super handsome...

chaya5738 · 12/06/2009 19:58

Are you joking?

MrsHappy · 12/06/2009 19:59

Er, I think he would be reclusive, probably a bit of an odd-un and have a lot of shirts. Though he would probably throw good parties...

oh christ no

Jaquelinehyde · 12/06/2009 20:06

It just makes me think of household appliances. You know like; Hoover, Smeg, Dyson, and Gatsby.

And as I wouldn't call my child Smeg, I wouldn't call them Gatsby either.

screamingabdab · 12/06/2009 20:18

Pretentious (sorry)

Goober · 12/06/2009 20:20

Sounds like a dogs name.

TotalChaos · 12/06/2009 20:20

Nope. Sounds too much like a cartoon animal/sitcom dog.

ThingOne · 12/06/2009 20:23

My DH's with hf128219. Don't do it. People will always say "Oh? As in the Great Gatsby?"

cthea · 12/06/2009 20:24

Gat for short.

cookielove · 12/06/2009 20:26

Sounds to much like a name for a animal, and oh my it sounds ridculous

barnsleybelle · 12/06/2009 20:28

Handsome or not, i don't like it at all... sorry

CrushWithEyeliner · 12/06/2009 20:43

Like I said it is not for me - I am just curious about names in general. This one has had a v strong reaction!

He will EITHER grow up to call everyone 'old sport' and have a fantastic home on Long Island and suffer from unrequited love

OR he will get teased mercilessly at school

CrushWithEyeliner · 12/06/2009 21:08

Yes I have actually read the book. As I said the name is NOT FOR ME as I am not having another child. My friend is having a boy and we were considering some "out there" ideas.

I feel there are worse characters in fiction though and much worse names, I am surprised at such a negative reaction but names are fascinating in that way I suppose.
