What do you think? Obviously for a boy. Have 2 dc already, with Irish surnames beginning with B, and thought that Carson would fit in nicely.

Carson is a lovely name. It's different from the norm. Personalities define people. My son is called Carson and he is nearly four. He couldn't be called anything else- it suits him so well. Choosing a name is personal to the parents so it's up to you what you would like to call your child!

I don't like it much, I'm afraid. I prefer Karsten (have a German friend called this).

But lstwo, you did say "it's up to you what you would like to call your child". The OP was 11 months ago so presumably the baby has been born by now.
