On the baby names websites there are so many different ways to spell it!! My grandma wants a Katie and partner has decided he wants to call her Lenny for short so i need the "len" in there some where really.
Please help with spelling as i dont want it to be made up and i have seen it spelt like this but there are so many different ways!!!

caitlin is the Irish for Cathleen, spelt with a C as the Irish alphabet does not contain the letter K (or Q or V)It should be pronounced Cotchleen, as the ai has a fodder above the letters which change the sound, similar to the accent in the French language.
The current pronunciation has come about because people have seen the name written but have not heard it sounded. The same has happened to other names.
Moya(my real name but i am often told it must be a made up name)
