Opinions on the following please....

We know we're havin a boy and for months our only name was Charlie but we've now gone off that and have a few other options. Opinions please?

Joseph
Ethan
Sam/Samuel

BF doesn't really like Sam but said I can have it if I really want it but think I'd prefer a name we both love.

Middle name is defo Adam after our friend who died a few months ago, I like Ethan but think Ethan Adam is a bit of a mouthful.

Love joseph... particularly when shortened to Joe. Like Sam/Samuel but not keen on the others... sorry.

My first thoughts were Joseph and Sam/ Samuel but since you said Sam not really an option (or wouldn't be for me if DH not keen) I really love Sam (sorry!). Would have been my top choice for a boy but our surname begins with S so not great.

Others are OK but I think that is the acid test for me. If I'm told I can't use the name do I then REALLY want it.

Well BF doesn't actually have a prob with the name Sam/Samuel but his cousin is called Sam and he's very very camp so he seems to just associate the name with camp queens lol. He has said if it wasn't for that he would think it's a lovely name. I'm sure that it wouldnt take long for him to just associate it with his gorgeous little boy tho.

My favourite is Sam too so I think you should persuade him

But if not then another vote for Joseph

I've known more than one person with the same name and it seems like a different name for each othem iykwim, so I am sure you are right.

xx... I think every name can be associated with a person/character on tv/pet etc who's traits we may not be fond of.
There's a not so nice character on tv who has the same name as ds and when we announced his name many people said the characters name.

7 yrs on it's his name, and boy does it suit him. Glad we stuck to what we liked.

Joseph is one of my favourite names. The others are fine too but imo Joseph outshines them by some way.

Thanks Barnsley. Nope. I already have a v lovely (imo) Joseph, so will have to think of another good name (easier said than done- sigh!).

Joseph is hard to trump i think! I wanted it for ds but dh desperately wanted James after his grandad as a middle name and didn't like the JJ thing. Wouldn't have bothered me tbh, but eh, you both have to be happy!

Don't really like Jake, my ex said that if we ever had a son he wanted it to be called Jake so it wouldn't seem right. Middle name is defo Adam (non-negotiable).

We have thought about Adam as a first name but I think it's nice to have a name that's just his, I don't want him to be living in the shadow of somebody else (IYKWIM) and we've also got another close friend called Adam.

I think that from the list Joseph sounds best with Adam.

Samuel for me by a whisker. Joseph also good. Sam and Joe are fab. Solid and suit all ages/stages of life.

Ethan and Lucas are cringey.

I love them all If pushed would choose Joseph or Lucas, prob Lucas as more unusual and prefer nn Luke to Joe. Sam abit popular and not as keen on unisex names. Ethan nice but very popular.

Like them all. Lucas my fave but very popular. Marcus Adam sounds good too.

Also think about your surname and if the initials spell out a word that could lead to teasing...eg if your surname began with a p and you chose samuel...it would be sap...
