Lucas, Gabriel for a boy, girls, well have no clue - give me some more please?

These are the names we have, now I like them well enough, but they are not grabbing me.

I will tell you some of the names I really actually like, but that I am not going to call my child if its a boy, as they are a bit 'out there' and maybe you can help me come up with some names I might actually like.

River
Bracken
(don't say rowan as everyone does, I don't like it!).

Girls
Scout. That is it. Its the only name I like.

My DD is called Isabella, but mostly referred to a as Bella.

Come Ooooooon MNers. Get yer noses away from Lord Alan and give me some ideas.

How about Ash or Robin for a boy (still on the nature type theme).

Think Demi Moore's daughter is called Scout, must say I quite like it.

I love Scout. From To Kill A Mockingbird. But its a bit risky no? I don't want to regret it. I do absolutely love it. And so does DH, funnily we both adore it.

No, don't like Ash or Robin (it would be shortened to Rob).

I quite like Otis, but think DH will poo poo that one.

A tad risky (as it's really unusual) but don't think you'd regret picking a name you both love - as long as you thoroughly consider it beforehand. Dh and I have found it useful to run through little scenarios to try out names...yes very sad . Such as you are at the supermarket and you bump into an old friend from school. They say "oh and who is this" (baby) and you say, "this is my daughter Scout"...then ask yourself, how do you feel about it? etc etc

Mags - I have done that too! I have done the 'what does it sound like being shouted out across the school playground?' question. I am happy with its sound. But worry that my DD might feel sad that she did not get such an unusual name . I know someone who has a child called Scout, her child is 10 now I think. It was a colleague who I did a weeks residential training with and every time I heard the name I just thought 'i love it' and it did not sound odd whenever she spoke about her daughter. I don't know her well enough to feel I could not copy the name!

I love Scout but didn't have the guts to go for it for a first name. I often wish we did though

I like Lucas and Gabriel (I also like Rowan - dd2 would have been Rowan!). Slightly less out there than River and Bracken names but still nature-inspired might be - Lee, Cliff (!!!), Jay, Aaron (mountain), Lawrence (from laurel). I really like Lawrence / Laurence / Laurie and don't like the others I've listed.

If Scout is what you like, then Scout she should be!!

DD1 would have been Laurie.

Do you think (isa)Bella and Scout 'go', or rather do they clash too much in styles.

They sound fine together imho.

Other girls' names I like are:
Bella and Matilda
Bella and Alice
Bella and Miranda
Bella and Clover

But Scout is the one you love! Why aren't you certain?

SingingBear - I would prefer not too many A list celebs! I did not know about Demi Moore's girl being called Scout until I told DH I loved it and he said the same. I only knew her from To Kill a Mockingbird.

I'm a bit puzzzled by this OP to be honest because of the difference in styles of you names!
Isabella is so pretty and feminine and Scout really isn't.
Lucas and Gabriel are gorgeous and quite classic but the others sound really 'hippyish'.
I'm just not quite sure which style you prefer if that makes sense!

I reckon that's the acid test. If you have heard someone else talk about their child and loved the sound of the name sooo much then you can feel a bit more confident about how you would sound to others (as Scout's mum). This makes the choice lot less risky I think.

Regarding other dd, I wouldn't worry about that at all. You might find that Bella prefers her name anyway! How unusual the names are might not even come into it.

peppa - me too. Other than my DDs name which I do absolutely love, the others, yes probably a bit hippyish. But Lucas and Gabriel, I like them, but perhaps they are just a bit too nice.

I think I am leaning towards the hippy style, but would prefer 'less' hippy I guess. I do not want a child who will dislike me for their name, but I also do not want it to be 'bland'.

Oh. And I like 'Blue' for a boy. DH does not

Nope - don't like Blue, sorry. Beau seems to be quite popular on here.
