Thoughts on Astrid please? Too much like aphid? Too close to vauxhall astra?
Like it? Hate it?

Thanks!

I think it's nice.

LoveBuckets · 26/05/2009 22:24

Oh yes there's always the flower aster and the Spanish version for stars Estrella (Pron estreya) too.

screamingabdab · 27/05/2009 09:26

Sorry, Lovebuckets, Estrella sounds like a contraceptive pill to me .........

IDidntRaiseAThief · 27/05/2009 09:30

i love that name.

Quiltedrose · 27/05/2009 13:46

I love Astrid. Make me think fondly of Pippi Longstocking.

tostaky · 27/05/2009 13:55

i like it!

LessThenIdeal · 27/05/2009 14:20

It makes me think of Professor Trelawny from Harry Potter...

KleineMaus · 27/05/2009 14:45

I love it, in fact it's top of my list for if we have a girl to the extent that I really want a girl now, just so I can use it. Thankfully dh loves it too. I do have a vague fear about the taunt potential of having a name that begins with 'ass', but I'm probably just being paranoid.

stripeypineapple · 27/05/2009 14:54

Prefer Aster.

Astrid sounds a bit Brunhilde.

midnightexpress · 27/05/2009 14:56

Love it. All Afghan hounds, basket chairs and flowing hair. V 70s and cool.

MrsMills · 27/05/2009 15:01

Great name - Astrid Gilberto, Astrid Lindgren and Astrid my rabbit.

womma · 28/05/2009 21:09

Lovely, lovely!! Astrid/Astrud Gilberto (not sure how she spells it) is my fave.
Now I'm wondering if it's too late to change my DD's name!!

shootfromthehip · 28/05/2009 21:11

Love it, love it, love it.

babyphat · 29/05/2009 11:44

i love it, reminds me of Pippi Longstocking

pretty and kick-ass

willowstar · 29/05/2009 13:24

one of my closest friends is called Astrid, I love her but I don't love her name...I think it might be because a girl called Astrid stole my boyfriend when I was about 15...but for some reason I just don't like it, too harsh and too much like acid.

EachPeachPearMum · 29/05/2009 19:31

I love it.

sockmonster · 29/05/2009 19:43

willowstar I think that association may have put you off!!

dp hates the 'id' ending .. so then I thought maybe Astra... but then I thought people will always mention the car...

back to Astrid...

Did you call your wee one Astrid in the end?
It's my 10 year old daughter's name & I still love it! :D
