Are those "most popular names" lists only first names?

I'm just wondering since we want to call ds2 a name that's always pretty high on the statistics lists, but I think is very popular as a middle name too.
If so, then maybe there actually won't be 15 other boys with the same name in his class at school after all... does anyone know for sure?

Hmm, not sure.

Tell us the name and we can report back as to how popular it is?

bigstripeytiger · 22/05/2009 22:22

They are just first names. There are some lists that also give figures for middle names, they are usually quite different from which first names are popular.

Ooh I'd be interested to see a middle names list.

Not that I'm doubting you tiger but how do you know? I've never seen it actually specified anywhere that's it's only first names, even on the official statistics sites...
(Thomas btw, Norbert )

I only know 2 of primary school age (ones known as Tom the other as Thomas) and one pre-school Thomas so actually, not that many.

Sorry Pania, just seen your post

here is the scottish middle names list for 2008

There is probably an english one lurking somewhere on the internet too!

lolianja · 24/05/2009 11:20

It's definitely only a first name list.

Thomas very very popular. Every boy round here called either Thomas or Jack.
