Love Cordelia

Hate Delia though...

dizzydixies · 24/05/2009 22:13

my Cordelia is known as Dylan don't ask its a long boring story

arolf · 28/05/2009 12:15

my sister is Cordelia, she always gets compliments on her unusual (and nice!) name, and the only 2 shortened versions we've heard are Cordy (which family hates) and Lia.

RedCharityBonney · 28/05/2009 14:27

Love it.

I wouldn't let Brideshead put me off tbh. I liked the character. A lot of us are a bit "poor, thwarted" aren't we? But still happy in some very important ways.

Dilly for a toddler, Della for a teenager, Cordelia when she's a QC. Perfect!

Latin for heart? It isn't, it's something to do with water I think.

MummyGil · 07/02/2011 00:20

I have a Cordelia. She loves it. Whenever she is asked her name she always gets a positive reaction. She usually gets her full name but has on occasion been called Deely or Cordy. She doesn't mind either of these.

PlanetLizard · 07/02/2011 22:43

I dislike it.

AllieW · 07/02/2011 23:00

Love it! Not keen on Delia as a nn, but otherwise it's fab.

MelinaM · 08/02/2011 00:41

^Grin at your two year old! Cordelia is a lovely nameSmile

MummyGil · 08/02/2011 08:00

At the time of choosing the name, our name books said that it was Latin for warm-hearted. Only recently have I seen references to it being Celtic for jewel of the sea. I'm pretty sure my son's Latin textbooks feature a Cordelia!

Love it. Would have called DS Cordelia if he had been a girl.
