I'd assume the parents couldn't spell Toby tbh.

puffylovett · 18/05/2009 15:46

middle name ? its cute - but can imagine him being called nobby at school. nobbys nuts & all that !

rubyslippers · 18/05/2009 15:46

how do you pronounce it?

To - bee?

not nice IMO

Toby on the other hand is

Everyone (i'm afraid) will assume he is called Toby and the name is mis-spelt

PuppyMonkey · 18/05/2009 15:47

Tobby sounds a bit like a rude name for a bloke's willy to me..

Sidge · 18/05/2009 15:47

Sorry no.

Toby is a lovely name.

Tobby looks like someone misspelt Toby; not quite so bad for a middle name as opposed to a first name, but still odd.

Peachy · 18/05/2009 15:50

Same as PM- i'd think Knobby.

Sorry.

foofi · 18/05/2009 15:53

Sounds dreadful!

HelloBeastie · 18/05/2009 15:54

I'd think Dobby the house elf.

But probably in 5 years time the Harry Potter thing will have passed.

sockmonster · 18/05/2009 15:56

Don't do it, please on behalf of your ds DON'T!! Toby is fine. Tobby is like, Nobby and Tubby and it's just...wrong. Go with Toby! That would still be a reference to your grandfather?

diedandgonetodevon · 18/05/2009 15:56

Sorry but my 1st thought was a spelling mistake and the 2nd was knobby tobby.

Toby on the other hand is lovely. Could you compromise on that?

Lizzylou · 18/05/2009 15:57

Was about to post the same thing as Hellobeastie, sorry.
Could you have Toby and still say it was named after your GF?

cluckyagain · 18/05/2009 15:58

I immediately thought of Dobbie (the house elf!)

DobbyDooDah · 18/05/2009 15:59
