Hi there, We are having a little boy this time around (already have dd Age 2). I am going round in circles trying to choose between these names and need some help please!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
WowOoo · 05/05/2009 14:08

For me I like Oscar or Felix. Lawson is odd, but may suit. Jack is OK.

Wags · 05/05/2009 14:09

Like them all except Lawson, sounds odd... sorry. What about Lawrence instead of Lawson?

magbags · 05/05/2009 14:17

I like Lawrence but dh not so keen! Lawson was a family name a couple of generations ago (ie great grandfather's first name). This gave us the idea but it wouldn't really influence me into picking it. {smile} It's really interesting to hear that you both like Felix as this is the current favourite!

Jack has been top of the popular list forever but i guess you already know this.
Oscar is up there for this year too I think.
I quite like Lawson (with Laurie for short) and Felix is a bit too pussycat for my liking
so. Lawson I guess.

BlossomsMum · 05/05/2009 14:23

I really really like Felix. Sadly my OH is not keen I think Jack and Oscar are lovely but I would be put off calling my little one Jack because of its popularity (think this is a reaction from being a Sarah Louise made in the 80s!).

Happy choosing!

magbags · 05/05/2009 15:45

I know what you mean about Jack being maybe being just too popular, this is my one big concern too (No 1 for twenty years or something!). I do still really like it though, quite a strong "no nonsense" name I reckon! Just worried it might be too much of an obvious / boring choice now.

i like oscar best

although never heard of a lawson so that could be a unique choice

jellybeans · 05/05/2009 15:54

i like oscar best

sockmonster · 05/05/2009 16:19

I love Felix or Oscar- Felix the best because it is more unique and I think it means happy? Felice in Italian Feliz in spanish etc..

I don't like Lawson very much...It will sound like a surname, and I just don't think it's as cute.

I HATE JACK PLEEEEASE DON'T CALL YOUR BABY JACK!!

screamingabdab · 05/05/2009 23:23

Jack.

NOT Lawson, for the love of all that is right in the world

SnortyBartFast · 05/05/2009 23:24

no

call him Jon

JellytotZ · 06/05/2009 09:24

I love the name Jack. Yes, it is popular. But so is strawberry jam and people still buy it!! heehee. If you dont have a Jack in your family already, then I dont see that its popularity makes any difference. Oscar is nice too :0)

stripeypineapple · 06/05/2009 09:37

Either Oscar or Felix, both cracking names. Jack isn't bad, Lawson is more of a surname.

Jojay · 06/05/2009 09:38

Felix

rutyfruty · 06/05/2009 09:39

Felix

WinkyWinkola · 06/05/2009 10:23

Felix.

Too many of the others about now. And Felix is the best name of the bunch.

SouthernMeerkat · 06/05/2009 10:54

We had Felix on our list, but we know a couple now, so it put me off a bit (plus DH wasn't sure he could get past the cat connection).

Jack - far too popular

Lawson - not really a first name for me

Oscar - too popular for me, but I do like it very much!

sockmonster · 06/05/2009 12:18

Only older people associate Felix with a cat, nursery kids will have never heard of felix the cat- Go with Felix or Oscar.

Sorry I know I've already posted but I feel too strongly about this to let it slide! Felix or Oscar!!

wombleprincess · 06/05/2009 12:36

oscar is a name for dogs, imho.

blametheparents · 06/05/2009 12:41

Felix, Oscar and Jack are all lovely

I know brothers called Felix and Oscar.

Oscar is my favourite.

gillybeanie · 06/05/2009 13:35

oscar x x

MrsMattie · 06/05/2009 13:37

Jack.

It's definitely the most popular, but for a reason, I think. ie. because it's nice!

Lawson is revolting, sorry.

Wigglesworth · 06/05/2009 13:49

Jack is very popular, I would like to say Oscar but I wouldn't have the balls to do it myself, I am not a use a funky name for real fan.
