Has my husband gone mad suggesting Ludovic?

We are english through and through. In fact, our surnmae is the same as Jack and Vera's. Does Ludovic sound like some eastern European Count? Are we trying too hard? Will our son be beaten in the playground?

Obviously we'd plan to shorten it to Ludo, which I quite like.

Other problem - my name is Lucy - is having another LU sounding name just sad?

We have no other children so it doesn't have to go with anything else.

I like Ludovic a lot, though I agree that if you are called Lucy, Ludo(vic) is a bit OTT.

Hassled · 05/05/2009 09:54

I think Ludovic with your surname would sound a bit nuts, tbh. Too mank C/K sounds, apart from the odd juxtaposition of Russian/English.

TheCrackFox · 05/05/2009 09:59

I went to school with a Ludovic and he was a great guy.

However, might be a bit of a mouthful with your surname.

LauriefairycakeeatsCupid · 05/05/2009 10:08

It's a lovely name and if your surname were Jones it would be lovely but it doesn't really go with Jack and Vera's surname.

MrsFogi · 05/05/2009 10:13

I've met a fair number of Ludovics when living in France - every single one was an idiot!

Sunshinemummy · 05/05/2009 10:25

I know a Ludovic/Ludo and he's lovely and I like the name.

sockmonster · 05/05/2009 11:17

I knew a 'Ludovico' and he was very lovely- maybe use the name and change your surname!? tbh it does sound mental with that surname.. hehe... do it!

sockmonster · 05/05/2009 11:18

Oh please!

sophieandbelly · 05/05/2009 11:19

i dont like it at all. not ludo either. wot r ur hubby suggest?

Crackopenthebaileys · 05/05/2009 11:24

oh dear. I know a ludovic, he has two brothers called John and David

What would you possibly call the next ds/dd that came along?

Ludo is actually quite cute, I agree. Could you not just use that?

Walkingwiththighosaurs · 05/05/2009 11:26

Sounds like a dogs name.

Gorionine · 05/05/2009 11:28

I like the name Ludovic, it does not sound Easter European to me. I was in school with a few Ludovic in Switzerland (french speaking part). Oh, and I cannot remember them as idiots but my memory is not that good!

CoteDAzur · 05/05/2009 11:38

Yes, he is mad.

mickeylou · 05/05/2009 16:05

very vampirish!! makes me think of the cartoon Count Duckula.

sorry but it really doesnt go with your surname. i think you should be going for a traditional english name. good luck!

Baisey · 05/05/2009 19:23

It makes me think of that Quidditch player out of Goblet of Fire.
Im kinda liking it but not with your surname im afraid, pure schoolyard teasing material.

Ludo ok but not ludovic with duckworth. Also too may syllables in common with your name, sorry

sleepyeyes · 06/05/2009 02:38

I prefer Ludovico, but only because I love the composer and musician Ludovico Einaudi.

EachPeachPearMum · 06/05/2009 03:34

I love Ludo... but sorry- not with yor surname.

Horton · 06/05/2009 11:51

Ludo and Ludovic are both great but Ludovic Duckworth sounds like a cartoon character. Sorry. Maybe use Ludo as a middle name?
