HATE Catalina but only because I once knew a vile child actress called that. It is pretty.

Love Valentina and like Emilie but not sure why not Emily? Similarly Susana is nice but would spell it traditionally as Susannah or Suzannah.

Bit meh about Carolina. I do think Carrie is a really sweet nickname.

catalina - no, doesn't sound right

carolina, valentina - both too flowery for me

Susana - odd spelling (are you spanish or something?), not keen

Emilie - nice

Valentina or susana

Beautiful

only if you have the heritage though!

sockmonster · 28/04/2009 20:03

Mexican family and early years but am terminally English now. Somebody said to me that Catalina/Carolina were a type of aircraft... I just wanted an excuse for the nickname Lina...

Catalina was the real name of Catherine of Aragon. I quite like it.

Valentina is beautiful, I love it but I would never have used it.

Susana is nice but Susanna or Susannah just look better.

Not keen on Carolina.

Susanna is the best.

sockmonster · 28/04/2009 20:15

I don't like the 'val' or the 'tina' in Valentina! Not keen on the 'cat' or the 'carol' in those 2, so I think maybe you are right ms beauregarde- Susanna, nickname susie?

I don't like Catalina, as it reminds me too much of Roman history - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Catiline, and a bloke with the surname Catalina.

Others are all nice.

sockmonster · 28/04/2009 20:19

Sorry am terminally indecisive, no.1 wasn't named for over 3 months after she was born and then ended up with a change of name on her birth certificate within the first 12 months....agh.. trying to be more normal and have names in place this time!

Valentina
Susanna
Emilie
Carolina
Catalina

In that order for me but, having said that, I would probably use Susanna personally as it seems a bit less brave and would go better with my dd1's name than Valentina.

piscesmoon · 28/04/2009 20:58

I prefer Caroline, Susannah and Emily.

magnummum · 29/04/2009 13:00

Catalina's one of my favourite names but DH vetoed it as being "too spanish" and we're not. Having said that DD1 ended up with an Italian name... maybe I should keep working on him for our soon to arrive DD2!

SoupDragon · 29/04/2009 13:02

Emilie and Susana look like misspellings.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 29/04/2009 13:05

Yes yes yes to Valentina.

Agree with SD about the misspellings.

UpSinceCrapOClock · 29/04/2009 13:09

My MIL is Valentina (Valya as a nickname).

I really like Emilie though.

Wouldn't worry too much different spellings - my name is pretty well known in the UK but doesn't have the British spelling (my mum's not British) and I actually quite liked it (and still do )

loobylu3 · 29/04/2009 13:29

I like the names in exactly the same order as ladidadi!

twinkerbell · 29/04/2009 13:30

valentina is nice, susanna and catalina I am not keen

BonsoirAnna · 29/04/2009 13:32

Valentina is very pretty.
