My mind is boggled.
Ive got 8 names though am open to suggestion.
Here goes

Matthew
Oliver
Thobias (toby)
Jacob
Rafferty
Oscar
Otis
Reuben

At the minute Oliver and Reuben are the front runners but my main concern is, is Oliver way to popular??

Thanks

The whole popularity thing seems to depend hugely on where you live. I don't know any Olivers round my way (I do know a Reuben though). I like Oliver and Reuben best from your list too, although I quite like Matthew as well. I have an Elliot too. I'm not due till September, but am already panicking that I can't think of a boy's name I like quite as much.

Phoenix · 26/04/2009 19:48

I agree with Kleinemaus I don't know any Olivers either.

I like Reuben, Matthew, Toby, Jacob and Oscar from your list.

I have a Lewis and am having a Noah

SebandElliottsmum · 26/04/2009 19:49

Thanks, the name has to go with Sebastian and Elliott, my husband likes Sonny but with our surname it sounds like a porn name!!! Reminds me of Dirk Diggler
Good luck, Elliot was a good choice.

Nathaniel known as Nat?

thirtysomething · 26/04/2009 20:18

Only know one Oliver and one Reuben. Know two matthews and several Jacobs and Oscars. Two Tobias/Tobys. Noone called Rafferty around here but I do know a super-cool Otis!

Think all the names on your list are fab!

MadMazza · 26/04/2009 20:22

Toby and Oliver are v popular in my area.

popsycal · 26/04/2009 20:24

what are the other two called

popsycal · 26/04/2009 20:25

ahhh....i must read usernames more closely

pointydog · 26/04/2009 20:35

Matthew - s'alright

Oliver - no, bit wet

Thobias (toby) - no, bit twee

Jacob - hmmm, not too keen

Rafferty - no, too post modern

Oscar - s'alright

Otis - no, a singer

Reuben - not too keen

Matthew or Oscar

MadMazza · 26/04/2009 20:44

Oscar reminds me of the character in Sesame Street- Oscar in the trash can - I'm probably showing my age a bit!

MrsToffeeCrisp · 26/04/2009 21:14

Love your list, - they're all great names, have a similar list for our DC3 due in two weeks too. I also have two sons already - one is Oliver. It does seem popular. I don't actually know others but seem to overhear Olivers being called in toddler groups / supermarkets. However, I still love it. It gets shortened to Ollie really easily which I didn't think I would like but actually really suits DS.

I absolutely LOVE Rafferty- would love it for our DC3 but am not quite brave enough and DH not that keen.

I know of one Reuben- very cute. I think it's lovely but our dog is Ruby so might be too confusing for our house!!

FWIW I'm torn between Zachary and Conrad for our DC3.

Good luck making a decision.

dizzydixies · 26/04/2009 21:28

Reuben and Otis are great

Misskittykat · 26/04/2009 21:31

Oliver and Otis are great!

Barnum · 26/04/2009 21:55

Oliver's great - I work in a school and we've only got 1 - the first for quite a while actually. Also love Rafferty - I think it's pretty unusual - certainly in my part of the country anyway (south-west)!

jellybeans · 26/04/2009 22:00

Matthew
Jacob

are my faves. Not keen on Oliver, too popular and dislike Ollie.

copycat · 26/04/2009 23:24

Jacob is nice (I know two)
I know two Olivers who are both called Ollie (which I don't like) - my DS1 has Oliver as a middle name (and coincidentally DS2 has Sebastien as a middle name!)
Matthew is WAY too popular and IMO the most 'ordinary' of all your choices.
I like Reuben (my cousin's son is called Reuben)
Rafferty is unusual and I quite like Raff
Thobias is fine and for some odd reason it reminds me of another name I like: Josiah. I'm not so keen on Toby though ...
Otis and Oscar I know cats with these names I'm afraid.
Are you any nearer a decision or have we confused you further?

SebandElliottsmum · 27/04/2009 10:08

Thanks for all these.
Nathanial is very popular this way because of a local footballing legend!!!!!

Im not one of these people that "just Know" as soon as they see their baby what name they will be.

Knowing my luck he will be a she and i'll be really stumped then.

Reuben is my fave on your list

I also love Finlay,Flynn & Noah

Egg · 27/04/2009 13:14

I like all of your list except not so keen on Rafferty and Otis.

I have DS2 Jacob and there seem to be a lot at the mo round here (although more seem to known as Jake).

Think I like Reuben best out of the others.

Our DS1 is Benjamin.
