DH is italian, we live in sw london. DD1 is due in May. We have decided to call her one of the above names, we love them both. Which do you prefer and would work best in the UK? This may help us decide which to choose!

Valentina is prettiest imo.

gigglewitch · 17/04/2009 23:26

My vote's for Valentina

Ronaldinhio · 17/04/2009 23:27

Valentina is lovely

Natalia with Talia as a shortened version.

pinkbaby · 18/04/2009 18:29

Thanks everyone. We've decided not to use Natalia with Valentina as a middle name as they are both quite strong names. We'll just choose one and use a softer shorter middle name.

Quite like Clara and Rose for middle names.

How about deciding when you see the baby?

Cies · 18/04/2009 19:18

I prefer Natalia.

Natalia Rose is lovely .

gigglewitch · 18/04/2009 23:15

oooh, I do like that

pinkbaby · 19/04/2009 12:00

Yes I like it too!

I think we'll make a definite decision on the first name when DD's born.

DH not too keen on Clara for a middle name, although we both like Grace or Rose.

Thanks again everyone! Will definitely keep this thread to read again to help us decide.

I love Valentina - could you have Leni as a nn? If you use it other people will copy hopefully.

I know a Valentina (named after Valentina Tereshkova, the first woman in space) and she did get called Val a bit in school but pretty much everyone used her full name. My vote's for that as I've always liked that name!

Valentina is gorgeous. Natalia is nice too but more 'normal'.

You could call her 'Vale' I suppose, said like 'Val-lay'

kif · 20/04/2009 10:54

I know a Valentina. It gets shortened to Vale (with an accent at the end - pronounced Balay - Spanish-Catalan pronounciation ). Tis lovely.

Natalia you'll be endlessly battling with people using one of the more common versions: Natalie or Natasha.

I love Valentina - we were considering it for a middle name (would've been Isabel Valentina) if we were having a girl. Alas it's a boy!
