39 weeks and no name! Panic starting... Please help me!

Ok...so I am due next week and have been/am manically busy with various things! But I'm now beginning to panic that DH hasn't given possible baby names a thought (he's thinking he'll maybe do so this weekend...?!) and that I really don't have any firm favourites of my own.

I know that we can wait til after baby is born to do this, but I'd much rather know before the birth what our shortlist is...it WILL make me more relaxed! For a pretty laid-back person, this naming game is actually becoming a major source of stress for me. Silly but true.

So...was wondering if anyone could help with any suggestions - first and middle names please!

The kind of names I like are 'real' names, ideally slightly more unusal but not wacky, and quite strong names:

I'm not really into cutesy names, flower names or abbreviated names as first names:

GIRLS
Eloise
Francesca
Madeleine
Maria
Miranda
Zara
Alexandra
Elizabeth
Josephine
Sorrell
Marisa

BOYS (middle name will be Michael)
James
Cameron
Leo
Alexander
Finlay
Isaac

Thanks for any suggestions ladies!

GIRLS

Marina
Flora
Rosa
Orla

BOYS
Jacob
Fraser
Rufus

But I like all of yours too. One of them is the name of my DS (with Michale as a middle name too!) so I am biased.

Beautiful list! You have nothing to be nervous about... lovely choices!

A few middle name possibilities:

May
Erin
Lynn
Fe
Grace
Renee
(With 'M', I like alliterative first and middle... e.g. Miranda May, Madeline Marie)

Clement
Stephan
Heath
Lane

jeanjeannie · 16/04/2009 19:40

Oooo, I LIKE Sorrell - that's lovely - I'd have nicked that if I'd seen it before my DDs were born! Also like Elizabeth - strong, simple name. Not keen on the others - sorry.

I like Alexander very much but there are a lot of them about. Really like Cameron - has a similar feel to other boys names that I like - Fraser and Vaughn.

Plonker · 16/04/2009 23:57

I like:
Elizabeth
Eloise
Zara
Alexandra
Maria

in that order

and Isaac for a boy (not keen on others)

TheFallenMadonna · 17/04/2009 00:00

I like Elizabeth and James best from your list I think. Isaac too.

I also like Marianne, Patrick, Alastair, Edmund.

TheFallenMadonna · 17/04/2009 00:00

Oh, and Alec, but not Alex, oddly enough.

Albert · 17/04/2009 01:02

Don't panic! DS was 6 weeks old before he had a name!!

rachels103 · 17/04/2009 11:26

We finally decided on 2 possible girl and boy names, wrote them down and said that's final, the day I went into labour with ds. Don't worry - at least you've got a long list of possibilities.

FlirtyThirty · 17/04/2009 12:35

Oh, ladies, thanks so much for your input...some lovely comments and alternative suggestions. I feel a lot more relaxed now.

HAve decided to put aside work for the day and spend a bit of time making a list of first/middle combinations which I can give to DH to consider.

I had hoped he would compile his own list but that's not to be and time is sort of running out (or so it feels)...plus, the poor man is actually incredibly busy!

Am sure we'll come up with something...and perhaps I should be focussing more on labour an the days afterwards!
