What about Aisling (is that how you spell it?)

modernart · 09/04/2009 12:21

Mairèad?

SuziSeis · 09/04/2009 14:17

fantastic Mairead and Ailish ( cant focus on spelling)

Ineedsomesleep · 09/04/2009 14:32

We know a Maeve and she is ace. We also know a Nuala who is Irish and I really like that name too.

Ineedsomesleep · 09/04/2009 14:38

Tok, I like Eva but almost every baby I meet is named Eve, Evie, Eva or Ava. All the rest seemed to be named Emily or are boys! Do like Eva but its just soooo popular.

shedragon · 09/04/2009 21:46

Nora?
Mairead is nice. Not keen on Sinead, millions of them around.
Still keen on Aoife tho.

Good luck with it, and be sure to let us know!

needsomesleepplease · 09/04/2009 22:30

I do like Eva or Ava but really common round here just now.

We have thought of another name Ellie - not 100% it goes with surname but will have a think. doesnt really meet our .critira but we like it so thats a start

SuziSeis · 09/04/2009 23:54

dp said it is chavvy

beanieb · 09/04/2009 23:56

brimfull · 10/04/2009 00:01

How about Mary
I know it's not celtic but such a lovely name.

BunnyLebowski · 10/04/2009 09:04

My sister is an Aoife and I think it's a beautiful name. Strong and feminine and unusual.

I'm an Aine which is another possibility maybe?

TBH I don't think Lauren or Megan go well with Ciara. They sound very typically english whereas Ciara is a distinctly Irish name.

Some names from my friends/family at home...

Emir
Caoimhe
Cliodhna
Roisin
Orla
Niamh
Maeve
Aoibheann
Caireann

How about Kirsten/Kirsty? Would go with DD1's name and therefore would go with your surname. Sorry it is only one suggestion instead of 100

needsomesleepplease · 13/04/2009 21:52

Risingstar we do like kirsty but i only like it when it is pronounced correctly, i hate hearing "Kirs-tay" which is what we would prob get alot! Kirsteen is nice but it wouldnt go down to well with family just now bad feeling over other issues and wouldnt want dd associated with that IYKWIM??

And thanks for the two suggestions much easier to read!!

OP posts:
BunnyLebowski · 13/04/2009 21:58

I don't get the massive list of names

Kirsty is a very dated 80's name imo.

Also it doesn't go well with Ciara as they are a wee bit too similar and couldn't be any further apart in style.

BiscuitStuffer · 13/04/2009 21:59

Skyla
Willow
Mathilde
Lyra

blithedance · 13/04/2009 22:02

Rhiannon

gotta be the answer

jkklpu · 13/04/2009 22:02

If you like, Ellie, you could go for Eilis/Eilish and call her Ellie for short. Emer is a lovely Irish name - can't quite remember the vowel sequence in the proper Irish spelling; I also like Maire/Maura

BunnyLebowski · 13/04/2009 22:10

jkklpu those are lovely. Much more fitting with Ciara.

There is also Eilidh which is the Gaelic form of Ellie.

Rhiannon, like Kirsty, is very dated.

BiscuitStuffer - Love Willow and Lyra. DP pushed for Lyra for dd (he's a massive Pullman fan)

needsomesleepplease · 20/04/2009 22:17

We still cant come up with anything we really like We have had to "Widen" our search our shortlist is now;

Ellie
Laurren
Maura

But still nothing jummping out at me!!
