I have a very short list of girls names that I like and DH has said no to all......can you suggest anything along the same lines as these so I can try them on him ( that's if I like them of course!)

Cersie
Dulcie
Drew
Darby
Kizzie
Kitty
Kirby

he did initially say he liked Kizzie but has back tracked now.

I'm so sorry but I can understand your dh for saying no to you list

Names that may be similar to yours:

Cersie - Cerrie, Carrie, Connie
Dulcie - Lucie, Lily, Annie
Drew - no suggestions.
Darby - Ruby,
Kizzie - Millie
Kitty - Catherine
Kirby - I've got a friend whose dd is Koby.

What sort of names don't you like? Do you like popular names, or something a bit different?

DorisIsAPinkDragon · 06/04/2009 15:16

Darcy

devonsmummy · 06/04/2009 15:18

Don't like traditional names eg Hannah, Emily
don't want popular ie Olivia, Isla,

DS is Devon if that helps with what I do like

Did Darcie on list when pregnant with DS but it's gain in popularity has put me off slightly

We're obviously not on the same wavelength as I don't like any of your original shortlist - sorry - but how about Keziah? It's got a similar feel but is a real name. You could even use Kizzy as a nickname.

madwomanintheattic · 06/04/2009 15:29

lol.

i was going to say - end up having a c-section and assume you are going to die - he'll let you call her what you like (it worked for me, although i wasn't really in the mood to celebrate my victory lol)

but having read the list of names i'm afraid i agree with him lol.

what about edie? it's a bit similar to what you've got...
or
casey
sorcha
cerys
carys

i do like drew if i'm forced to pick one, but the only dru i know is short for drusilla. she's very lovely, but i fear it's not going to top the charts...

everGreensleeves · 06/04/2009 15:30

Keziah is lovely, it means "cinnamon flower" and you can use Kizzie for short

BlueChampagne · 06/04/2009 15:36

Tamsin
Rosanne
Meryl
Meredith
Rhiannon
Thea
Corinna
Olwen
Blaise

Leannabanana · 06/04/2009 16:00

how about Dolly short for Dolores?

MrsTittleMouse · 06/04/2009 16:06

Katie instead of Kitty?
I had Lizzie on our list though. so our tastes probably don't match.
I like Heidi too, for the ee sound.

wotulookinat · 06/04/2009 16:20

I can understand why your DH doesn't like them to be honest.
Cersie - Kirsty
Darby - Deborah shortened to Debbie
Kizzie - Elizabeth, shortened to Lizzy
Kitty - Katherine

SheSellsSeashellsByTheSeashore · 06/04/2009 16:24

Carrie, Kelsie, Romany, Rhiannon, Bryony, Cerys, Cadie, Chanise, Ebony, Lydia,

All nice uncommon names.

LaDiDaDi · 06/04/2009 16:32

hmm I like Drew and Kitty but not enough to use them myself.

Jessamy
Polly
Flora
Mabel
Vita
Hattie
Jenna
Cody
Emerald, nn Emmie
Seren

LaDiDaDi · 06/04/2009 16:33

Keely

Springhassprung · 06/04/2009 16:57

Kezia (Kezzie)
Zilla (Zillie)

Sazisi · 06/04/2009 19:23

I've been trying to think of names that sort of go with Devon and aren't traditional:

Lana
Bree
Delia
Gala
Asha
Christa
Rowan
Callan (Cally for short?)
Lara
Liadain (Gaelic name, pronounced Lir-dun)

saggyhairyarse · 06/04/2009 22:26

Darcey (as in Bussell the ballerina)?

NorktasticNinja · 06/04/2009 22:28

Erin?

nevergoogledragonbutter · 06/04/2009 22:29

do you have a connection to devon?
what about tamar, or tamara?

Quattrocento · 06/04/2009 22:29

I think ...

Your DH is very sensible and you should ask him for his thoughts

I was thinking Kezia/Keziah with Kizzy as a nickname too! Or maybe Cassia?

I have a friend named Casey, which I quite like.

I recently met a little girl called Kiomi - I think it is Japanese in origin. Very pretty and unusual.
